Of all the puzzling things of late with the club , Montero's lack of action is at the top of the list for me .
Seems since the moment Curtis took over right up till now , Montero has been in the dog house and I just don't understand why .
For a guy that showed tons of potential from his early substitutes to the guy who possessed 7 assists in our highest point total season , it's all gone south for him .
After this season I think he has one more season to his contract and I will never understand why he hasn't played more under Curtis , Guidolin and now Bradley .
Anyone here anything through the grapevine about why Montero has seen extremely little action ?

He obviously have not impressesed in training or he might have a slight injury that results in not being 100% fit not that anyone is 100% fit anyway.....A tidy player....

I think because he's a complete wuss and not prepared to put his body on the line for the cause is an argument for his exclusion.

He is a bit green in all fairness and has a lot to learn but he has potential for sure...

I think we've dropped the ball with Montero .
Montero was green when he first came to us and within a few games of subbing , german and other clubs were talking 10 million pound offers .
My biggest worry is now that his contract is seeping threw the hourglass , he will want to leave....like a lot of others of late .
Time to give him lots of starts IMO and let him build his confidence and as things go better for him , and ultimitley us , he will re sign and be a long serving swan .....

You dont just give him a start if there are problems with him, that is stupid.....He has to work hard in training to earn a place because no other premiership club will want a player not playing regular and if we decide to run his contract down then there will be a very good reason....the onus is on him to earn his premiership wages because if he dont he wont be earning premiership wages for much longer.....

a goal or assist every 180 minutes his very first season ( our best points season ) dictates he has what it takes . Your assuming he doesn't work hard eniough
I think we have a very good player who we are mistreating and we need those assists desperatley .

I think he's had injury problems hasn't he? Came on and assisted for the winner last week.

Tinkerbob admitted that Monterro 'didn't want to play' ????? My response to that is, if Tinkerbob is the big leader he makes himself out to be, which I doubt, then the choice should be his and not Monteros to make. If he's passed fit its the managers call surely.

I've heard Monterro, just hearsay, comes over as lazy in training and doesn't listen to instructions. Hearsay again but I've also heard he still struggles with his English, which could be why he finds it difficult to take instructions.

If he is struggling to learn then his apparent laziness and inability to take instruction may be symptomatic of his struggle. He may not be lazy at all, but finds it hard to pick things up because he doesn't understand English very well. His issue may be a learning one and nothing else.

If true then this can easily be remedied. With a little empathy and understanding, and with a little specialised help, Monterro could brought up to speed quite easily and unleashed when ever needed.

Unfortunately, for all the money in the game, empathy and understanding often gives way to impatience through necessity and sometimes talent like Monterro, is lost because the environment they're in doesn't afford them the understanding they need to flourish. Sad but true.

Montero's first start of the season so I'm not 1% as worried about what he can do compared to what the team can do ....and that's not down to the team IMO
