Thought it was David Nugent that was going to be the forward we were signing?
I don't want either if they're going to be 'temps'.
I hear you WJ but we don't want to be stuck with them / their wages if we don't go up.
For me, it's not even about the wages - it's about developing a team. I don't want temps to disrupt that development. I'm happy with a 'try before you buy', as he could help us develop is we sign him full time. I don't want Nugent at all, & will only think about Fletcher if it's on a 'try before you buy' basis. I cannot imagine where we'd play Nugent, and I'm not convinced that Fletcher could play the lone striker role.
Anyway, what does my opinion matter. In Monk we trust. Seems to have a good eye for a player, and another good one for developing the team for the future.
Good to see you posting again WJ - the board is better for your input.
Just read Malik Wilks has a pro deal - have you seen much of him? Is he a prospect? Also one of the McKays gone to Aidrie on loan - always thought the double deal was a bit of a strange one
He went on ****ing holiday not on a strop you sentimental ****er.
Not seen Wilks for a few weeks now. He blows hot & cold - and it's not all his fault. Part of developing a player is trying him out in different positions, and he's an out & out striker as far as I can see. Not as effective in the supporting 3. Necessary evil when you remember that Harry Kewell came to the Academy as a LB & Ian Harte joined as a winger!
He's a hot prospect, but I honestly feel that Mulhearn is ahead of him, and perhaps Stokes. He did make me laugh one game. He was on our wing, right in front of us & dived, landing on top of an opposition defender. Got a free kick (unfairly) & just lay on top of the player (who was struggling mightily to get up & mouthing accordingly) & gave us all a great big grin before he eventually got up & trotted off. I do like a sense of humour being displayed like that.
I didn't mention holidays or strops - there's more to this than meets the eye
There is but if you are in bed giggling at your ipad your mrs is going to assume you have a bit on the side and are reading www.plentyoffishcom so lets not go there.
I wasn't but I am now
Little johnny is going to be getting the third degree when you get back tomorrow night.
She will be all "did you stay with daddy all day" and " did he talk to any pretty ladies".
If he has any sense he will blackmail you!
Again, you make very good points. For me though we are at the "stick or twist" part of the season. How many have posted that the season after the L1 promotion, top at Christmas, Grayson wanted reinforcements but we decided to stick with what we had, and the rest as they say..... If we are to stop clubs stealing our young talented players (and these are clubs like Bournemouth, Norwich and west brom), we need to go up and we have a better chance than any time in the last god knows how many seasons. For me it's worth the short term gamble. Every year gets harder imvho.
Well thank **** we're not meeting for a pint then! No mum he was talking to a man he chats to on the internet about men in shorts
Thanks bud & catch up for that beer soon talking of which, where are Shaks and the OLOFs? Is New Years Eve a two day event for those guys?
Shaks is only allowed to post when the mot tells him, and olof is now too embarrassed about brexit to show his face.
See Derby are bidding 2.5m for Henri Lansbury.
That should be us. Put up or shut up Rads.
Lansbury is a diving cheating **** and not the type of influence we need... But why would they want him and chris martin? 99% of the stuff gouing about is paper talk and agents striring it up.
The Telegraph is linking us with Patrick Bamford. Not sure why, they don't seem to be offering any compelling reason, probably just lazy journalism......he's a striker who might be going on loan, we're a club who might be looking to sign a striker on loan.....BINGO !!
Bamford started brilliantly out on loan from Chelsea but his last 2 loans have been crap, so is he good enough? My fav has been Crouch but Stoke have started playing him and he has scored in both the last games so looks like he will get another season in the prem. Pity he would have won the golden boot in only half the season and got us promoted. Fletcher wont be try before buy as WHU bought him to use him but hasnt done too well, so they want to get him back into the goals and then start him next season. Nugent will score goals but his best days are behind him so not a long term buy, just loan. I will back whoever Monk brings in so Im open about it
