Wow, this news has taken me by surprise, according to nearly all major news outlets, we have indeed triggered Vardy's release clause. Really not sure how to feel about this news, his age is a concern, but then again, this is a player who Wenger clearly thinks can do a job for the now and also it shows that Wenger is no longer thinking long term, meaning he does not see himself staying at Arsenal for much longer, ala Fergie and Van Persie.

How does everyone else feel about this news?

    Shocked to say the least!

I personally think Vardy is a bit of a ****... But he does seem to know where the back of the net is!

Hadn't seen any rumours about this and then boom we seem to have triggered his release clause. If we sign him at least we will be signing players in the right positions and getting deals done early.

He is a ****, but maybe we need a few ****s in this team. Too many nice guys in our squad, who kick the ball out of play when an opposisiton player is faking an injury, that kinda of **** pisses me off. The more I think about this news, the more it makes sense.

Yeah we probably could do with a couple more ****s in the team, people who are overly competitive rather than overly nice.

Not sure if he is the right man or not, but it'll mean we have signed a DM and a striker who have just had good seasons with time left to find another CB before the window closes.

Unless you guys change the way you play, its a pretty pointless signing as we've all seen for england.

Risky signing a striker based on one season at the age of 29. He fits Leicester's style of play because the manager has got it working perfectly for him and he could be those kind of players that struggles to adapt to a different style and level.

They largely play a fast counter attacking game to which Vardy makes runs into space at pace. Sounds a bit like what Walcott can do but isn't able to because our style of play often doesn't support that. Is he versatile enough to adjust to our style of play? Does he have the required skillset to, we know how Walcott has struggled to adapt.

Not the kind of signing I was expecting but he could suprise everyone again by performing again.

£20m isn't bad if he replaces Walcott, plus he fits Wenger's preference for buying the ugliest looking players in the game :p

Agree about Walcott. I think we'll sell him if we bring Vardy in and to be fair, he'll be a big improvement on what Walcott has offered us over the last 3/4 seasons.

Can we go and get Mahrez too now please :)

Doesn't matter, with Vardy and Gabriel in the team, the average munter level will be fine. :)

You haven't allowed for our German Turk. We need an Adonis to even begin to level things up.

Stupid signing. You only need to watch how he struggles with England to know he'll crash and burn in Arsenal's side. Plus he has played through many injuries for us and only managed due to our superior record with injury management and sports science. With Arsenal's record I'd expect him to spend a fair amount of him out

I've noticed Wenger trying to raise our munter level recently. Maybe he's trying to replicate the high success and high munter level of the Tony Adams and Keown era...

To be fair he's scored 3 goals in 4 games for England.

As many league goals this season than Morata has managed in the last four. £20m is not a lot nowadays. Minimal risk.

Sure but Morata is clearly the more talented player and at least has the potential to be World Class.

We've already seen Vardy's best Season IMO.

To be fair I've not seen him play that often... But does he? Other strikers of the same age have been banging them in now. It's not like he's 18. When will he start scoring lots of goals?
