He has been brilliant, and the way things are going by the end of the season we should be able to buy Begovic back for peanuts to be his understudy.
Begovic's move has been a classic wrong move at the wrong time - it could really devalue him if Chelsea do have their worst season and/or a new manager comes in and drops him.
Don't think ha has the confidence in those international defenders he's got around him rather than our motley crew
At this moment in time I would say Butland is in the top 3 keepers in the world, ive never seen a keeper in such good form for such a long period, I just hope he stays with us
I've always felt Shawx was equal if not better than Cahill and Terry is a shadow of the player he used to be. As a squad they probably have less fight than us as well which doesn't help Begovic.
He seems to have really matured and seems very self assured. I think that now Shawcross is back, he will only improve further because Shawcross wil help to organise the back line. Loving how the squad is shaping up. Shaquiri seems to be coming into form. Whelan and Adam seem to be developing a good partnership and Arnie seems to be thriving on getting to start each week; not playing second fiddle to N'Zonzi.
All this positive talk must be played down. It will lead to over confidence and if it reaches the team that will cause mistakes. The talk should be more on the lines of ' where do we need to strengthen in the Jan. window ? ' . Not only that , but if word gets out it will not only be Chelsea coming for our super-stars waving their cheque books.
I can't either but I cannot see Woy discarding him. I also believe now that Shawcross will not be picked for England again. The likes of Stones, Smalling and Cahill are Woy's boys and even Jones and Jagielka would be selected ahead of our captain. Another who did not impress me last night was Barkley, frustrating player and loses ball or makes the wrong decisions.
What amazes me over Cahill is that he doesn't always make the Chelsea team and when he has played they have lost and conceded goals. Chelsea are almost in the drop zone, how does that justify an automatic pick? Smalling I've never rated as a true CD (like Terry, Rio, Vidic etc) and how Jones makes a living is beyond me. He's classed as versatile but that's just an excuse for not being able to hold down a position. For a player who left championship Blackburn in a 16 million deal five odd seasons ago, it beggars belief. Stones has come off the back of one of Evertons worst seasons and receives a 35 million bid? I'm sure he has great potential but as of yet he is unproven. That leaves Jagielka, he's a lefty which adds balance and is probably the only one that justifies selection.
I have to disagree about Smalling mate, I never rated Smalling before thijs season, but I think that this season he has come on leaps and bounds, I thought he was by far our best player against Spain and hes been very good for Man utd. I agree that Stones is unproven but the potential he seems to have is massive. I would agree with you about Cahill and Jones, Cahill looks completely shot of confidence and slower than ever, Jones wouldnt get into Port Vales team.
