Yes but not this year. They looked like boys. Utd were taller, faster, more athletic all round and just could do what they liked.thats why when you see mkhitaryan not even look up when he got it but smash it 40 yards in behind and not even close to Radford you can only shake your head and think.... so much potential being wasted.

Utd of old would absolutely demolish that u21 side they played this week.

Utd were poor, but we're just being "bitter" saying that of course. They could hardly complete a pass longer than 10 yards and just kept punting it upfield hoping Rashford was somewhere in the general vicinity. The first goal was a fluke from someone who hitherto couldn't hit a barn door. But they were still too much for Ajax, like you say.
Sanchez looked like a star in the making, talent and a great deal of confidence for his age. His passing out of defence was hopeless though. He needs time and good coaching.

Not really cos weve said about 10 times tgey fully deserved it. But yeah to a manc thats all they see. Zero actual footballing brains.

The first was a deflection yes but ajax were lucky twice before it. The second was pure simplicity.

This has been some weird season. All the top six have got something. And each can claim to have made progress and look forward to a better season next year.

I know, but we were all taking the piss on their demise in the PL - as we did with the Mancs - and now they've also waltzed off with silverware. If I sound bitter it's 'cos I am. :headbang:

I think a lot of people are quite harsh on arsenal just got 4 sides got more point than them

    2013/14 arsenal 4th 79 points (5th was 72 points) Fa cup winners
    2014/15 arsenal 3rd 75 points (5th was 64 points) Fa cup winners
    2015/16 arsenal 2nd 71 points (5th was 66 points) Fa cup 6th round

    2016/17 Arsenal 5th 75 points (4th was 76) Fa cup winners

Now if anything that's actually consistent. Its not a poor season from them at all as some would say its par for course. thye just got caught out by 1 point when for the past 20 years they have just done enough

If Wenger goes, Arsenal are gtoing to be in the wilderness for sometime. There are not many good managers around.

Luis Enrique will be available in a year, plus one of the good new managers in the PL may well get the sack if they have a second poor season.

Maybe that's your board's bright idea, it is super risky though.

It reminds me of Wenger's comments about why he did not buy many players every summer and he says there wasn't quality in the market, so he sticks with what he has. You guys may be stuck with Wenger for a long time yet if you don't find a good manager just sitting around on his hands.

Do you see your club ever trying to poach a manager from another club? Can't see your owners wanting to shelve out the extra money to buy out their contract.

Thing is, they shouldn't be doing just enough.

They have a settled squad with a manager who has been in charge for a long time. In theory, he only needs to make a few signings a season unlike when a new manager comes in and overhauls everything.

He does not like to spend big. Wonder if Arsenal had bought any player in the region of £M50 to £M70 during his reign.

yes but the reality is they are 5 results from it. just 5... thats 5 loses turned to wins or 5 draws turned to wins away

Thats why wenger says they are close

    also the context.

    1. Stadium 2005..
    2. 8 year gap in trophies
    3. 3 fa cups in 4 years now

In fairness its a club in rude good health with a lovely stadium and everything is good except for the organisational structure due to wenger sitting atop

he will claim its his way but the reality is when he does go.... hold on to your hats guys cos the organisation behind will make mistakes.

I think that's the point. Wenger has consistently got that 70 odd point mark but looks to be making no instrides into that which is what you need to be lifting the PL. He has made no steps forward in the CL either and he hasn't been hamstrung the past 4 years.

If you are happy to be consistently delivering that return and top 4, then that's fine. I think fans want a bit more than that though. those 5 loses to 5 wins are 15 points and anyone could say if we had those we'd be winning!

Fact of the matter is he hasn't been getting those extra wins consistently and therein lies your problem. I'm with Jimmy

He took ages to buy a keeper then he buys one past his best. he takes ages to buy a cm and cb then buys a cm who kicks people off the park...

In the end 3 fa cups in 4 years must cut him some slack unless gooners are total plastics

I think he's mollycoddled too many players like walcott and ox and whilshire and should be tougher but if he's not hamstrung and he's brought in ozil and sanchez and giroud and mustafi and xhaka he's trying to build a team...

As i said its a fine margin between 70 and 85 points. LFc have been returning 60 points too oftern over past years. The fact is if you look at home v away arsenal have blown it on the road when the going gets tough.

its the babyish players who can't front up is his issue.

This is exactly one of the reasons why they are too babyish on the road. He's kept faith in them for like 8 years now. Also whilst you can blame some of the players for not fronting up to the issue of strong teams at home, i think some of that comes across from Wenger. He thinks his team are the panacea of football. They are not as they are not good enough to be playing the same tactics week in week out against different oppositions in different environments. The man just does not change things up.

Even Fergie would adjust his tactics and outmaneuver Wenger often playing more solid players with more work rate. It's also why Wenger gets destroyed at knockout rounds by the better team in the CL.
