Arsene Wenger shocks Arsenal fans after he says they must must follow the example of hated rivals Tottenham Gunners boss says the united spirit of fierce north London rivals Spurs is what the Gunners ought to be aiming for BY TOBY GANNON ARSENE WENGER has urged Arsenal fans to follow TOTTENHAM’S example. A handful of supporters have turned against the Gunners boss following defeats in his last two Premier League games. One fan even called for the 67-year-old to quit during Arsenal’s 3-1 loss at Chelsea – which leaves them 12 points behind the leaders. But Wenger claims the title race is not over and insists supporters – and the team – must band together and take inspiration from the likes of north London rivals Spurs. He said: “Our fans have been consistent and have a high level of expectation. “You cannot be a fan last Tuesday and then not next Saturday. “All the other clubs, everywhere we fight with Man United, Man City, Liverpool . . . they have big expectations as well and big histories. We are in a fight there, we absolutely have to be united or we have no chance to do it. "You have Tottenham, everyone is in the fight and everyone is behind their team. We have to do exactly the same, even if we had two disappointing results. "It's been a difficult week. We are here to win football games so when we don't win football games we are very disappointed. "But it's as well an interesting week because it's a good test at an important moment of the season and it's as well a good opportunity to show what we are made of and to deal with what matters to us - what is at stake and in front of us in the next game. "We have a big fight in the Premier League, a big fight in the Champions League, with a big game coming up, and we still have the FA Cup as well. "We want to do well in all three competitions and that's as well why it's important that we focus, respond and get our fans behind the team, because this is an important and very sensitive part of the season - and we have to respond to disappointment together. "It's never over [the title race]. We cannot behave like that. Even if you think it is, I don't. We cannot even think like that." And people think Moyes makes dodgy comments. Never use your fiercest rival as an example to strive for, even if there's truth to it. The point could have have been made with name dropping Spurs. Talk about making things harder for himself The Prem board should be interesting tomorrow
Stupid thing for him to say but he's right. Spurs have far better fans than arsenal. That could, in some small way, be put down to the fact that what's happening at Tottenham is ambitious and excited while everything at Arsenal seems pretty unambitious and frustrating. Arsenal look like a club that don't even want to win the league.
I've said it enough times, but Wenger really hasn't changed anything in a decade. Arsenal are the same today as they have been for the last 10 years, they are toothless in battle and players like Sanchez and Ozil as talented as they are, just shrink in big games. Wenger won't get sacked though imo, he'll have to walk. Their fans believe they deserve better, they really don't.
One fan even called for the 67-year-old to quit during Arsenal’s 3-1 loss at Chelsea the other one refused to comment
Think he's just compounded the fact this will probably be his last season as Manager, might move into DOF role or something. They've needed fresh ideas for a while now, they're probably only two players away from really challenging in the league IMO but it's been like that for years. If Moyes started comparing us to the Horse Punchers in terms of fans there'd be absolute uproar.
It'd be funny if Wenger retired as manager and moved into a DoF role so he could continue his rich tradition of never buying anyone.
Fair enough, have a look at this thread though to compound your clubs embarrassing fans... http://www.not606.com/threads/crazy-or-stupid.343225/
There must be something in the water up there for sure! I would never say our fans are squeaky clean. We have some utter scum and that's a fact. Fortunately I'm not like that. The people on here aren't as bat **** crazy as the average fan anyway.
Disagree with that mate. I think most of the blokes on here would be the bloke in the pub who's sat in a puddle of his own piss, chuntering on to himself about how the referees are out to get him.
Still got my doubts about Man U Baz. They haven't had a bad patch since rhe early part of the season yet. Putting my crash helmet on now for Tel's response.
Man Utd is the dodge one but they have to click at some point. Someone will get a good going over from man Utd soon.
