A lot can change, but the most likely outcome seems to be that Qatar will get the WC, the question is just whether it is in Summer/Winter.

If they are forced to do it in Winter (health concerns of fans/players etc...), then it would be very interesting what the European leagues would do. I imagine they will just jig around the fixtures of the season before, and afterwards to make it work - but I would be quite interested in them trying something a bit different. Not sure what, and it probably isn't viable, but maybe a bit of a wildly different format for a year (with the gap for the WC), just as a one-off.

Loved one of the comments on there "If Qatar lose the WC, will Blatter have to give his bribe back!

I agree with newlandcasual that Australia should have been given it. The fact it would have been winter there, and yet still about 10°-20° warmer than it will be here is just one of the reasons why...

Agree that the Aussies should've got the WC.

Serves Blatter right, shouldve ****ing realized what a cock up it would be when he took the brown envelope.

Anybody saying we should get it, no chance.
The European backups would be France or Germany (I wonder why... <whistle>)

Either way, Qatar should never have been given it in the first place.

I'm not saying we shouldn't - I thought the most sensible options for 2018 were us and Spain/Portugal, and for 2022 was Australia. But due to the nationalities of the Presidents of said Federations, we won't get it for a long time.

Here is a good example: Michel Platini becomes UEFA President in 2007 - France gets Euro 2016, the nearest competition available to choose the hosts.

A lot of other leagues have to change their schedules to suit international tournaments, why shouldnt the main European ones for once?

    Don't forget Bristol.

Lost interest in the prospect of England getting it after that farce.

We got 1 vote!! That cost Australian Taxpayers nearly A$50 Million and today we are still awaiting a full account of where it all went. Never again-- well, not in my lifetime anyway.

As long as we dont get it I will be happy. All this AstroTurf nonsense and no relegation/promotion is annoying.

Yes - they spent a **** load of money - which apparently resulted in a cartoon kangaroo kicking a ball around - then they were told they had loads of votes to only get one

There were issues with some of the larger grounds being used as it is afl and NRL season over here - the other sports here were not helping the football federation at all

And then 1 vote - completely rigged but Australia's bid had many flaws in it....

I for one wouldnt allow the EPL to change their format for this competition, why should they or the championship teams for that matter.

As some have said how did that hot bed of soccer Qatar actually get the world cup in the first place. Doesnt take a rocket scientist to work that one out.

Blatter your a con man and a ****ing balloon if you really think people dont realise you took a kick back somewhere down the line.

Platini will take his place when he retires and again another English hater, we have no chance of being awarded the world cup while the french control FIFA.

    Rant over !!!!
