With the stones transfer request being knocked back by the club, do you think this will be the end of it? Would you honestly be surprised if he was still sold prior to 18:00 1/9/2015? Will we still be spending the £15 million we were going to spend? One thing for sure I am pretty confident we will still be involved in transfer activity on Tuesday. Also on a side note IF stones was sold, we're would that leave Martinez after his admirable stance?
Martinez didn't make the stance, the club did (bill and the board) and decided it's better to keep the player
Don't agree. I think the decision was made by Martinez. The board merely backed that decision. In answer to the OP he's not going in this window now, the comments have been definitive. Now it remains to be seen whether Martinez is given some financial backing as well in the coming days.
You have a real hard on for the board don't you. Dont you think martinez's stance has swayed the board at all?
Well I would home we still have the money that we were going to spend on the 2 players we were due to buy prior to Kenwrights announcement about not selling stones. Otherwise it looks like the money was coming from the sale of stones.
The money was coming from the new yearly loan that they took out last week to replace the Vibrac loan that had been settled. So they've made financial provision to back him, that's a fact.
So we still have the cash to spend. Infact if we don't spend it then we have to pay interest on a loan we are not going to use.
We definitely have cash available. The loan facility is in place, whether we actually draw down that money and spend it - thus incur interest - will be decided by the transfer activity in the next few days.
Who have they ever moved on were he player hadn't instigated the move - ergo didn't ask to leave - and the manager was against the decision to sell??? Who's on that list then?
You know the board manipulates players and staff,as they did with making stones issue a transfer request. It's all smoke and mirrors, we have just moved onto act two of Bills production tobes
And my belief that Stones would not be sold was correct. I watched the space and knew it was a player who was ring fenced.
I was surprised that we stood firm over that one, especially after the transfer request came in. Listening to Martinez afterwards, he's intimated that the transfer request was half arsed and not so much the lad's doing as his agent. Brave move to turn down the chance of £35m+ for a young CB. We knocked back £8m for Naismith on deadline day ffs! If we could have landed Yarmolenko for £18m and then got £8m back for Nais on deadline day, that'd have made the window fantastic. Not to be though.... Happy enough with it though, albeit we're exposed at LB if there's no chance of re-calling Garbutt and Baines injury return doesn't go smoothly.
stones wouldn't even get a game for celtic u ****ing toffee nosed ****ers @Der Kaiser @Scan @Jesus Christ
Martinez turned down an offer for him in his first season so I'm not surprised. He is a clever player round the box and great in the air. The Russian lad looks Barca bound so it was never going to happen. Maybe Mori can cover LB? Garbutt is out injured I think but Oviedo should get back to how he played when Baines was out last. Window could have been better, but glad we didn't chase an expensive Charlie Austin
