Thought DC said championship players he was hoping to sign, not conference players doesn't strike me that this can take us forward Are we to assume that the enquiries made to two championship clubs have fallen or is this player someone who can strengthen a back four that is seriously short of numbers through injury.
Joe Partington's probably a decent signing because he's played fifty odd times for Bournemouth as well. He's also had major reconstructive surgery on a knee! But he must be over that if he's captaining a useful Eastleigh side. Captain says leader too, which is just what we need at the moment.
I thought the same when I seen we were interested in an Eastleigh defender. I thought "not another non league player!!!" But looking at the player in more detail, this would 'hopefully' be a good signing. As already pointed it, he has leadership qualities and seems to have the right attitude and determination. Signing him wouldnt be the worse decision in the world. Him along with a few more experienced heads for the last 20 games would be good.
Bristol Rovers have today completed the signing of Eastleigh defender Joe Partington, on a permanent contract, for an undisclosed fee. Rovers manager Darrell Clarke said of his new arrival; “I am very pleased to have signed Joe, a player who can play in one or two different positions. “He is hungry and keen to learn and is a welcome addition to our squad and I’m sure that our supporters will be looking forward to seeing him play.” Born in Portsmouth, the 26 year old has won Welsh international caps at U-17, U-19 and U-21 levels and began his career with AFC Bournemouth for whom he appeared in 52 league games between 2007 and 2015. During his time with Bournemouth Partington spent time on loan with Eastbourne and Aldershot and he joined Eastleigh, initially on loan, in January 2015 and signed a permanent deal with them in July of that year. He went on to appear in 81 league games for the National League side, scoring six goals in the process. Partington goes straight into the squad for our game against Fleetwood Town tomorrow. http://www.bristolrovers.co.uk/news...s-at-the-mem-3516331.aspx#9t76Q3stHHqW84bM.99
Eastleigh Football Club can confirm that Club Captain Joe Partington has today left the Club and joined Bristol Rovers for a club record transfer fee. The Club gave Joe permission to speak with Bristol Rovers yesterday following an offer which activated a release clause in his contract. The Club were in negotiations to extend Joe’s contract further, however with such a high level of interest being shown from teams higher up the Pyramid it was always likely that his would be difficult to conclude. Joe has been an extremely popular member of the squad since signing and has made over 100 appearances for the Club. He has conducted himself impeccably and is fully deserving of the opportunity to return to the Football League. Whilst the Club are extremely disappointed to lose Joe, we are absolutely delighted for him personally. It is a fantastic move, to a super Club and we wish Joe well for the future and thank him for all his efforts whilst at our Club. We would also like to take this opportunity to thank Bristol Rovers for the manner in which they approached the signing of Joe and especially that of their manager Darrell Clarke. http://www.eastleighfc.com/2017/01/13/parts-leaves-for-rovers/
Great signing, I would say. Apparently Eddie Howe used him as a centre back too, so he's probably versatile.
Man City G / K Ian Lawler signed for Doncaster Looks like we will have Kieran Hedges on the Bench tomorrow only about 3 hrs for G / K to sign and be available for tomorrows match
