Pilkington I think will be sold if we can find a buyer. I think he can get a team near the top of the table though.
Now Whitts has gone, Pilks is probably the most skilfull midfield player at the club - moreso than Ralls and Gunnar. The problem is he doesn't show it often enough and lacks consistency. He's still worth his place in the squad and is a far better option to persevere with than the likes of Noone, Kennedy, O'Keefe or Huws ever were. If he could control his impulses the way he can control a ball instead of his usual rush of blood instinct, he could be a consistent match winner. Unless we need to free up his wages, I'd keep him unless a silly offer came in - and I can't see that happening.
I agree with all of this.(apart from maybe Kennedy) Selling Huws was good business. To me he gets nowhere near our line up. I would have given him a free with a sell on clause to get him off the books. The money weve got is a massive bonus. Pilkingtons problem is i dont think he has a natural position. However hes definately talented and will be a good signing for anyone if he stays fit. However I think Warnock will try to offload him. I also think O'Keefe and Noone can do a job for someone in this league - we need better though.
Has anyone asked him where his preferred position is? He's been with us for what 3 seasons now and nobody knows. Yes he has quality but that is evidenced too few times; the majority of the time he frustrates. He always takes one touch too many, he tries to shoot when there's a better ball on, he is a terrible header of a football (I'be given up on remembering how many headed chances he's spurned), he goes missing for chunks of games and so on. If NW can get the best out of him & he enhances the team then keep him otherwise get someone new. I am in the latter camp as there are too many negatives over positives.
