He waived the £1m he was entitled to. Tell me any other player that effectively made that sort of investment in our club. Now consider the list of players at the same time who were insisting on being paid, even though it would make us bankrupt. There were a lot & they should be abused before Smith. Put more plainly, which would you prefer: 1. A player who saves the club £1m when we're in financial strife, then joins our rivals OR 2. A player (and there are a lot to choose from!) who insists on being paid even though it could end the existence of our club (and could join our rivals if they were good enough. Which they weren't). Does anyone seriously think that Smith joining scum is far worse than trying to put the club out of existence? If so, how can it possibly be justified?
Not quite. He left because we were poorly run paying players far more than we could, and love him or hate him but Ken Bates saved the club from possible insolvency. Moving forward, its taken time, but we're finally in a position to make a return to the PL. Plenty yet to do. But at least we're genuinely in the mix.
No point in saying see you next season to everyone, only three can go down even if you miss relegation.
I'm pretty sure Smith could've gone elsewhere. And I'm sorry, if he was a Leeds fan like he says he is, he wouldn't go anywhere near scum, whether it 'saved' us or not....he's not a Leeds fan in my eyes and as chippy said, he will forever be a scum cnut
Greedy ****.. Waived the million... But maxed the wage to more than compensate... Anyone seen him pay in since he left/ retired?
