Ha, that's the LAST thing we want/need. REALLY hope we don't have to resort to Bassong/Martin as CBs for a couple of weeks.
Whether it's due to greed or not, GM is right. Lafferty signed a contract and has to honor that. It would be stupid for us to let him go out on loan, leaving us with only two strikers. Naismith is not a striker, but an AM. With Oliveira now on board, Lafferty's chances are limited unless there's an injury. At the same time, though, we can't simply let him go until we have a replacement. The same was true for Becchio. If we get a new striker in January, then Laffs can go, but not until then.
Let's hope Klose is all right, but it might b e wise to rest him against Rotherham anyway. Heresy I know, but we need to look long term.
Agreed Rick - we need to think longer term and resting Klose at the weekend may be the smart call. I'm sure Rusty and Bassong will be ok for one game won't they ............. won't they ?
We need to use our squad depth, given that we play Fulham away the following Tuesday. I'd go with Bennett & Bassong and either Pritchard or Naismith at AM as Rusty and Wes have played during the intl break.
Will probably watch the first half of the England game tonight then change channels and watch episode 2 of Westworld, that's if England haven't put me to sleep.
Martin and Bennett for me, even if one of them is on crutches. I would prefer to never ever see Bassong in the yellow jersey of NCFC again in my lifetime. He is the weakest link...bye
Slovenia hit the post after abject defending by England. Shame, just when a wake up call would have been useful. And Tyldesley and Hoddle have mentioned effing Rooney at least three times
The disadvantage of that is they're both right-footed CBs (square pegs and all that). It'll be interesting to see which way AN goes.
I don't hold with all that. Both Murphys, Canos, Jarvis (if / when he's fit) and even our dear departed Redmond could all switch wings, to give the opposing full backs something different to think about. Wes, Naismith - even Lafferty have all been played wide(ish) left in the past and though not as effective as when central (tell me when Naismith is ever effective anywhere on the pitch ) they do it. Should be a cinch for CBs to shunt 3 or 4 yards across.
It's different for CBs, IMO, as it makes it more difficult to clear the ball or play it out of defence to the LB say. Klose can do it because his left foot is almost as good as his right in that regard. That isn't true for either Martin or Bennett.

I know it's 'de rigueur' to mock the international team, but there are a few good players in the current crop. They just don't seem to have any form of direction. Four years of 'Mr. Motivator' hasn't helped. please log in to view this image I have no idea what the answer is, I do know it's not Gareth Southgate.
The amount of times I said "I'll never watch England again" I always watch it, mainly coz on international breaks, there's no football to watch, so need my fix. At least now, the last 2 games I've only watched the first half. I've halved the misery. I think in the next few games, I might be able to get it down to first 20 minutes, then 10, then not bother!
Oh well. I tried to put a positive spin on it. Fat chance. I cling to the hope of a decent national side because of the increasing ridiculousness of the Premier League. Not so long ago I was amazed by a player I had never even heard of being touted for £20 million. Just a couple of days ago, a similarly unknown (to me anyway) was apparently valued at £50 million. Absolute bollocks.
