International Players - Just for fun

Hello, Canary fan in peace........................

Following a discussion on the Ipswich board a few days ago I would like you guys to come up with as many players from between 1970 to the present day who have been awarded FULL international caps (while playing for your team). Not u18, u21 etc - Any country.

I do not intend to turn this into a discussion type of thread or any kind of competition between our 2 clubs - just for interest, and maybe some surprises along the way as we go down memory lane.

If you can give me the name, country and approx year (in that order)

Starter for 10 for players in recent years but please excuse the lack of years (no time to research), Bothroyd, (England) (2010 I know that one), Bellamy, Blake, Ramsey (did he get one while with us), Ledley, Parry, Earnshaw, Gunter, Collins, Matthews?, Gabbidon, (all Wales), Gyepes, (Hungary), Keinan, (Israel), Alexander, Rae, Burke, McNaughton, McCormack, Marshall (Scotland), McPhail, Kennedy, Kavanagh (Ireland, north and south), Olifinjana (Nigeria).

There will be lots more but those are the ones that sping immediately to mind.

Help me out guys, memory is failing, who was the little full back we signed from Swindon a couple of years ago and released last season, could tackle and head but unable to pass the ball to save his life?

Thats the one MJW, played for Guadeloupe.

 

Ron Healey played for NI in the late 70s. Andy Dibble? Can't remember if he got a cap while with us.

 

I wonder if we are the top side in the Championship for International caps whilst playing for us? Admittedly, all of the Welsh players help!

 

Did David Giles get his only cap while playing for us, Jason Perry also

Peter Sayer, Barry Hole, Wales Don Murray? Scotland, off the top of my head

 

Warren Feeney - Northern Ireland

 

Did Fan Zhiyi ever player for China during his season (2002?) at the City? Haha if I remember rightly there was a mini-hype about signing him, only for him to be sent off on his début and pretty much never seen again!

 

Adrian Alston -Austrailia. Last played for the Socceroos in '77 but whether he earned a cap while with us I haven't looked.

...and who could forget super Eddie Johnson - USA, 2008 (ok, he played for the USA in the June and came to us in August but couldn't resist adding him)

 

At the same time as we had Ron Healy we had Bill (?) Irwin who played the other side of the border.

Peter Sayer, Phil Dwyer, Andy Legg.....

 

Is that a euphemism?


Healey played for ROI. I think Irwin was NI but don't know if he ever got a cap.

'fans favourite!' Richard Langley - Jamaica? Same period of time Vidmar- Oz, Feeney -NI. Did Rhys Weston & or Damon Searle get full caps too? What about the gangly Guyanan, Cohen Griffiths?
