Liverpool forward Sadio Mane is set to miss the last seven games of the season with a knee injury.

Mane, 24, was taken off after colliding with Leighton Baines in Saturday's 3-1 home victory over Everton.

Manager Jurgen Klopp said he was "pretty sure" Mane needed surgery, leaving it "pretty much impossible for him to play again this season".

The £34m signing from Southampton has started all but five of Liverpool's league games this campaign.

Of those, three were drawn and two were lost. The Reds are third in the Premier League table with seven games left.

Klopp also said Adam Lallana was "much better but is not in training" as the midfielder continues his recovery from a thigh injury suffered on England duty in March.

Captain Jordan Henderson, who has been out since February, is "in a good way, but I don't know when he can be part of training again", the German added.

LFC fitness latest: Coutinho, Lallana and Henderson


Elsewhere, in addition to Sadio Mane, Liverpool will also be without Adam Lallana and Jordan Henderson for the clash with the Potters as they continue their rehabilitation programmes from hip and foot injuries respectively.

Daniel Sturridge, however, is continuing to make good progress having resumed full training earlier this week.

Klopp continued: “Adam Lallana is better, much better, but is of course no option for the weekend because he is not in training. He feels good, he is on a good way, but the problem with this is it is kind of a shooting muscle – one you use mainly if you shoot.

“He feels nothing in the moment, but we will need a few more days for sure before we can have him back on the pitch. It is similar to Hendo.

“Hendo is also in a good way but we don’t know exactly when he can be part of training again.

“Daniel is part of training, yesterday and today, and we will see. But no major issues.”

Liverpool are sweating over the fitness of Roberto Firmino ahead of their trip to West Brom on Sunday, writes Mirror Football's Alex Richards.
The Brazilian forward, who scored the winner at Stoke last weekend, did not take a full part in training on Friday, as the Reds limbered up at Melwood.

Firmino spent the majority of the session going through some fitness work with head of fitness and conditioning Andreas Kornmayer, and speaking to coach Jurgen Klopp.

Crystal Palace manager Sam Allardyce fears that Mamadou Sakho could miss the rest of the season with a knee injury.
Crystal Palace manager Sam Allardyce has acknowledged that Mamadou Sakho will be out of action with a knee injury for the foreseeable future.
During the 1-0 defeat to Tottenham Hotspur, Sakho was carried off on a stretcher after sustaining the problem and Allardyce has suggested that it could bring an end to his loan spell from Liverpool.
He is quoted by The Express as saying: "Our biggest problem is at centre half. Sakho with another knee injury but it is a good job we are blessed with outstanding centre halves. He has hyper-extended the knee.
"It is certainly serious enough to keep him out for who knows how long, we won't know until we diagnose it, but if it is ligament it may be the end [of his loan spell], it may not."
Sakho has made eight appearances since moving to Selhurst Park in January, with the club picking up 16 points in the Premier League during that period.
