Benteke suited a crossing and heading game and wasn't great at pressing which is the complete opposite in what Klopp wants in a striker.

Yet Origi is willing to play multiple positions on the pitch, presses well and can score yet he isn't good enough?

The question is. Is he as good as the strikers that City, United, Chelsea, Arsenal have? If the answer is no, he is not good enough.

If you strive to be in top 4 or win, you need players of a comparable or superior quality. We need to stop thinking like midtable team.

Even teams below us have better forwards than Origi.

The kid is only 19, can play as a target man or our wide, has pace and power. He's shown good link up play and skill and he has scored quite a few goals.

He's one for the future but can already slot in and deliver. There's no point signing talented youngsters and not being patient enough to develop them.

    Arsenal:
    Sanchez (winger turned striker)
    Giroud

    United:
    Ibra
    Rashford
    Martial
    Rooney

    City:
    Aguero
    Ihanacho

    Chelsea:
    Costa
    Batman

I would say he would compete with a lot of those strikers.

    <laugh> I guess I can agree he's better than United's goons.

Liverpool could be without Coutinho until the new year amid fears he has suffered ligament damage. #lfc (Echo)

That's what I initially thought. Others saying is good news because it's not a break but ligaments are often worse

    Interesting question.

    1. Origi is 21. to compare any 21 year old to a guy who is 28 and in his prime is plain wrong IMO.

    2. therefore:

    Arsenal compare to perez?
Utd: comapre to Martial and rashford
    City compare to Ihancho
    Cheslea:Batshuayi at best.

To compare him to costa, aguero, ibrhimovic or sanchez is wrong IMO

    3. After all is said and done.

    a) I don't think i've seen a marvellous header of the ball in origi
    b) i've seen decent hold up play
    c) i've seen pace in him
    d) I've seen a thunderous shot
    e) I've seen him finish well in the box

so.... is he a decent player. yes. is he as good as the best of the young lads ihanacho... no... but is hs standing up against the others... yes.

I agree. it wasn't a bad stretch and snap though from a stood on ankle. he looked like he opened the joint up in kicking the boot and jarred it so who knows.

Break an ankle and it can heal badly and be weak. I think its strained ligaments not torn ligaments so no op and it think he will be ok.

The player knows how to score and works for the team. I see a lot of qualities Sturridge had when he was younger in him but Klopp is molding him into his type of player.

he seems a pretty run of the mill belgian player to me. which bascially means he could very easily decided to leave at any time. Lucky and the rest all seem very mercenary to me. just the impression i get from that countries players

German players are very much similar in that contract means contract and at end i do what i like whether you are my hometown club, bayern or real madrid.

English players seem just mad to party and do all sorts.

Origi is very talented and seems to have all of the attributes.

At 21, he has time to develop and Klopp is perfect for that. Consider that we got the lad for £10m compared to £30 odd million for Michy and £50m for martial.
