Just out of interest KIO, but why shouldn´t they moan, you certainly do enough of it whenever the Smith and Jones are mentioned. Some have even told me that moaning is one of the main objectives of having a forum like this. Doesn´t bother me, I´m just enjoying watching the squabbling, and the eventual outcome from afar, from my cosy European perch. :) but no doubt it matters to some.

I wonder how many on here are naive enough to believe McNally would have admitted his error with the vitriolic fans?

Hmm, who to believe here? :emoticon-0112-wonde
A respectable ex-CEO who has dealt with and worked for several high profile companies, made crucial decisions and spent years dealing professionally with all forms of media....or a paranoid, never-admit-you're-wrong-even-when-you-clearly-are forum 'contributor' with a thinly-veiled agenda of hatred and loathing.
Let me mull that one over for a week or two.......<laugh>

I know it's not quite Brexit related, but veg that we normally get from Spain etc are in very short supply and so the prices of items such as courgettes, cucumbers and lettuce are about to increase dramatically.

Any idea why this is? A lot of their produce in grown under giant plastic sheeting, or in greenhouses, so it continues to grow and yield fruit or veg virtually all year round?
It might mean that people in this country start having hearty stews, casseroles in winter and salady stuff only in summer - how it used to be when I were a lad!

Apparently, they've had heavy rain in recent months and they've now got a very cold spell.
But do many of today's cooks know how to make them??????

Whilst any such thing is bad news if you eat such things, Cucumbers have been cheap for ages. I remember them being up around 70-80p for a while, they have been about 50p for ages, even with the pound having tanked. I'm sure we'll all survive as long as the root veg keep coming for our stews.

    Bah!

Just have to make sure we hunker down well in the trenches General - with a liberal supply of chilies and assorted brutally hot sauces to put on our turnip casserole <yikes>

I don't know about cucumbers but it has been a really bad growing season in Spain for courgettes, cucumbers and some other products. S supply is really down, hence increase in price. You can't blame everything on Brexit, although part of the increase will be down to the value of the pound, which of course is partially linked to Brexit other factors are equally relevant i.e. increase in oil prices due to Opec / non Opec agreement. But in short the most significant impact on the price is the amount of supply. As previously mentioned no doubt loads of bad news will be unjustifiably link to Brexit.

    http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-4134478/Rain-Spain-ruins-courgettes-lettuces-ups-prices.html

Even if the lack of courgettes was a price to pay for Brexit, I'm not sure if it's a negative or a positive.

I'd guess that for by far the majority of Brits, regardless of which way they voted in the referendum (and how they feel now, a few months later) could survive - even if they never saw another courgette in their lives!
