Hi folks Just to let you know, if you don't already, that i am doing another charity run, this time for the Multiple Sclerosis Society. My running buddy's mum has suffered from this awful disease for as long as i can remember, as well as friends and family members of my own, and i know many people are affected too, either themselves, or members of their families. I have been amazed in fact since fund raising, just how many people are directly affected. So, we are running the Great South Run again, in Portsmouth on 23 October. 10 miles and hopefully this year we won't be battling against the winds of a hurricane! lol. So, if you would like to donate, here's the link to our fundraising page. Any donations, large or small, are very gratefully received. Many thanks https://www.justgiving.com/fundraising/Rebecca-Decker1?utm_id=121
Good for you. I jumped out of an aeroplane for this charity, on my own, not attached to another person!! My first ever girlfriend, from junior school, suffers from this horrific condition and I live close to the Chiltern MS Centre so please excuse me if I do not sponsor you directly it is a charity that gets a fair bit of my time and money. I hope you raise shed loads.
I've done that jump, one of the most exhilarating moments ever! I loved it and wanted to do it again there and then! Nothing to excuse, i hope i can raise shed loads too! Often the big charities are linked to these runs but MS isn't on the list this year which saddens me.
So...i did it, just in case you were wondering . 10 miles in 1 hour, 54 minutes and 18 seconds which i have to say i was pretty chuffed with, 10 minutes knocked off my previous (and only other) time . But, it may not come as a shock that i have now been advised to stop running, knees don't respond well apparently, so i'm looking for a new challenge. I'm rubbish at just exercising for the hell of it so any ideas gratefully received! I've done the moonwalk, so much as i'd enjoy doing it again, i think i need something 'more'. I don't cycle and i don't swim, so your challenge is to think of a challenge that involves lots of exercise that isn't any of the above lol.
Sorry to hear about the knees, they look fine to me! My last year at school two of us canoed the river Waveney from source to sea and that was fairly strenuous, how about you try it over the boat race course?
That doesn't leave a lot of options... 1) A sponsored bounce at a Watford match? 2) Munro bagging? 3) Just plain old walking...
Someone naughty might suggest your answer could be found in the title of your thread, H, but I would not be so lude.
haha, bad boys! It's a thought though The knees are ok atm, it's just what might happen, but i'm gagging to run! Walking was an option but it's so ...uninteresting...hmm, i might have to do an interesting walk to make it more interesting!
You could always come here and do the round the island walk - how does 48 miles starting at 3 in the morning sound? I've attempted it 5 times and completed it twice. It's always the Saturday nearest midsummer so there is the most daylight available but I guess your looking at sooner than that.
