How many of this team are good enough to play in the top division? And how much money do you reckon we need to keep us up? Wish you all happy new year.
Tough question when you see how quickly the Swansea's and Hull's can fall in a ruthless Premier League but I would say this. I was at the League Cup final against Villa and the Play Off final against Watford. Would rather get auto when it happens but, at least with this team I just can't see them not turning up when it matters. So, if we get up, more of this side deserve the chance to keep us there than many previous teams
None of the current squad are premier wuality. But would ecxpect Green, Ayling, Bridcut and wood to form the initial spine. To survive somewhere north of £30 mill nett would need spending. To compete make that £50mill. Way too early to pondering this though!
Have you developed a lisp ? I think our currant team would be bottom 5,but with first season back bounce could stay up !! but 2-3 quality players would see mid table imo.
I wondered this the other day and conceded probably 2-3 Jansson, Taylor, maybe Berardi and O'Kane. I think the key would be to bring in two good players that we could keep if we were relegated. I wouldn't say no but promotion this season is probably one too soon for the likes of Vieria and Philips. Getting up and using the parachute money wisely would be key.
All of the squad can make it in the PL because they will learn sharpish that the opposition will be stronger. That said, I think we will need a quality forward and either a left or RB for certain
I can't see too many of the current team being a force in prem should we get promoted. Agree with Ristac it would be too soon for the youngsters, and the prep time, which is split between holidays and back to training is very short. Jansson, Berardi, Hernandez, O'Kane, Antonsson, Taylor (if still with us) could do a great job in prem. I also believe Silvestri can do a good job in prem, and Buffon rates him highly. Some will obviously disagree with Antonsson, but he's 25yrs old and a very busy striker, which can worry most prem defenders. Antonsson hasn't had much game time but he's an in, and out of the 6 yard box striker. More regular starts would surprise a lot of fans if they have a lower opinion of him. Bartley and Bridcutt I would put a very debatable question mark next to their names, only because their previous prem clubs allowed'em to go out on loan and for Bridcutt too be sold. Sacko possibly, unless he improves his end ball, most defenders would have him nailed. The rest, either too soon or not good enough. Many would probably find themselves out on loan or sold as the club brings in more experienced and skillfull players. Our prem team is going need some serious rebuilding if we're going to be a force again.
I think Berardi, Janson and Taylor would be good Prem squad players but that's it Wood - Failed in The Prem Bridcutt - Failed in the Prem O'Kane - Failed in the Prem Green - OK'ish but past it Hernandez - OK'ish but past it Rest of them - simply not good enough. You'd need 20-22 new players that are much much better than what you have so Brexit Steve is right when he quotes £50M
Our current squad would compete well against the bottom ten in the pl and are possibly better than a few of them so a few clever additions would likely see us safe for a season or two. Then is the time to assess what needs spending to move towards that top eight or so. It'll be baby steps whenever we get there
You've gone from the realms of bullshit in brexit to super bullshit offering opinions on what's required to survive in the pl. a Luton or Dartford fan would know as much or more about what's required. Stick to Charlton debates tc, you might win the odd one of those
I nearly took you seriously and the I read this You are either still pissed from last night or need a visit to the quack
Well we all know that you're no expert at winning debates - even poor old Mike had to go for continually putting you down
