Stupid question. The choice between a football mercenery or my club playing in the highest league I pick the Premier League.
The question should be do we sell Snodgrass and unsettle the rest of the squad who will then all be keen to join him through the exit door. We've already got half the squad with contracts running out due to the mismanagement of the Allams.
If Snoddy goes and they don't replace him, then that's it for me...Membership card handed in and bank informed...
The thread title doesn't say it all though The OP asked if you'd accept £10m if it was invested to give us a better chance of staying up So the title isn't really very useful Anyway I wouldn't accept £10m because I don't think you'd get better than Snodgrass for that (don't forget with fees it'll be a lot less left too) Selling to a relegation rival would be a double hit In fact I'd simply refuse to sell him to one of our rivals, get past the deadline and he'll play fine for us
The thread title is rather different to the first post though, which says "if that cash was used to give us a better chance of staying up?" We all know that is a huge IF
Supposedly Livermore didn't according to the Allam apologists here, yet Silva is saying he was very important to us.
You cannot blame any of our players for leaving. There is no leadership, direction or sense of serious purpose at our club. The players know this. There is no one at the controls, just a scared, clueless kid counting the pennies. Who would want to play for a club like that when there are other clubs busting a gut to grow and challenge for honours?
With good quality loans on big money possibly, agreed we're not going to buy good enough players with £10m. Today showed we really do need to bring in someone who can take free kicks if Snodger goes - some of the corners weren't that bad but generally our spot kicks were dire.
Strange question as the entire reason we want to keep him is to stay up.. so if we knew we'd stay up even if we sold then of course we'd sell him.
Haven't the time to read the rest, but this just about sums it up and fairly stated. My only addition would be that if he really wants to go, then get on with it, get £10M+ and replace with a goalscorer - not easy, but nobody ever said it is!
Agree, could well have scuppered that one. Which, if Snodgrass was intent on leaving, could give MS a problem...
Anyone who would rather stay in the premier league than keep Snodgrass at the club is a complete and utter buffoon.
