Ive been a few times and had trouble getting a drink and then finding somewhere to piss it out! I went around the back of some vans last year with my son & he cannot un see what saw! Women pissing like horses all over the place!
The streets will be deserted though after 5pm when the mad dash to get in a pub to watch city happens.
Bloody wessies, this **** outside number gin bar demanding to be let in the private party to use the toilet. There's a urinal just down that alley I want to use this toilet, its the law Go tell a copper ****ing prick, if this is who coc is attracting I'd rather keep hull insular and for us
Place was heaving, never seen the gents queue as long as the womens, you could tell a lot of booze was being consumed by the leangth of the bog queues the more the day wore on. As for the music, pass, I gave all the stages a go at different times, a lot of it seems just right for old folk, if they are hard of hearing, as for musical, that's debateable. A CD was being given away Best Of Hull, 2 CD set. CD1 'The Future Of Hull' the list is as follows: 1. Paper Planes - Legion 2. Steer - Bulletproof 3. Crucibles - Croswords 4. The Riffs - The Load 5. G.S.T. Cardinals - Born To Lose 6. Launderette Poets - I Walk, You Wander 7. Farino - Half Light 8. The Hull Youth Jazz Orchestra - Making Whoopee 9. Identity - Party Vibes 10. The Gang - Kick & Snare 11. Waiwan - Carina Nebula 12. Carlos Begearos - Imprada 13. Distinct Feat, Lady Lovepocket - Disappear (AM Digital Remix) 14. Hull Youth Symphony Orchestra - Cello Concerto CD 2 'The History Of Hull' 1. Ronnie Hilton - You Needed Me 2. The Rats - Telephone Blues 3. Spiders From Mars - Looking Like A Fallen Star 4. Tammy Cline - Hillbilly Girl 5. Jimmy James And the Vagabonds - I Want You So Much 6. The Red Guitars - Marimba Jive 7. Uriah Heap - Rich Kid 8.Ted Key & The Human Voice - Can't Stand The Rain 9. Secret Life - Part Of Your Crowd 10. Filia Brazillia - Thatched Neon 11. The Paddingtons - You And I 12. City Ghosts - Tangents Jimmy James And The Vagabonds, Uria Heap, from Hull? Haven't much of a clue about much of the others, in fact I have no clue about most of the other stuff. On a different note, I think they should have made an effort to get at least a temporary bridge over Castle St, Stewards on traffic duty yet again.
Good to see Jimmy still going strong. First saw him in 1966. My lad came home about 20 years ago when he was about 16 and asked me if I had heard of Jimmy James. I told him of course I had and asked why he mentioned it. He said he had been somewhere and Jimmy James had come on with an organist, a guitarist and a backing tape. They were all going to leave as it wasn't their thing. But Jimmy started and ripped the place apart, people dancing on tables. He couldn't believe how he got an audience involved.
Thought it was poor today.Seems it's turned into an outdoor drinking and pissing fest with every available shop front selling booze and music is now secondary
I think you're right. Went 3 years ago and the amount of 18 /19 year old girls that could hardly stand up coz pissed to hell was amazing. It's just a mega binge drink now. Humber Street does look good now but it's lost something in the process.
I enjoyed it. Didn't get there as early as I'd have liked though. Atmosphere was better than I expected. I was worried it would be full of people totally pissed and horrible but it was really nice. Best bands I saw were Fatherson, Indigo Velvet, Affairs (not sure if the singer is quirky or a dick though) and Chambers. Young girl on the acoustic stage was good too, Imogen something (Hart?) especially since she had to contend with loud conversations. Not sure an acoustic stage in a bar was the best idea. I'll definitely be back next year.
Stage in Butler & Whites was far too quiet (I assume that's the one you meant?) I thought the atmosphere was really good. It normally changes as it gets dark, but seemed fine all through
Always to sesh it's a great event. Not sure if the numbers need capping next year. Seemed a bit overcrowded down Humber st. Saw this weird band on Fruit wearing white boiler suits. Made me laugh like hell and really had the crowd bouncing.
Crowd numbers are already capped (at around 30,000 wristbands) Tricky thing for organisers is knowing when people will arrive and leave (there's never 30,000 there at once), and the weather plays a big part in that
I did think it was 30k but you could pay on the day for £15 so was not so sure. Fair enough. Was dead impressed with the look of the new "venue" building looks really iconic.
The 30k definitely includes pay on the day too. You're right about the venue, I'm looking forward to seeing who comes to play there
Actually, it won't. Not in its proper sense. A very misused word which has strayed from its original meaning. In my opinion it is an ordinary looking building of which there are many dotted around the country. But each to their own.
