Manor Street, just off the Land of Green Ginger... http://www.hulldailymail.co.uk/news/hull-east-yorkshire-news/real-ale-chilli-bar-earning-128730
Yep. Went in a few weeks ago in the day time with our lass and the kid. Had a bowl of chilli which was very decent. Think it was like a fiver a bowl and four quid for any top ups. Usual on trend ale and cider selections. You could easily get through a couple of bowls but it did the job. Often pass it on an evening and they occasionally have a thing going on, like some chilled out bloke strumming a guitar. My only complaint would be very casual bar service. But I may have been unlucky with the timings. So to sum up... I'd recommend it. These are the sort of places that probably wouldn't be popping up without city of culture, but we need to make sure we do more than just applaud the fact. We need to actually grace them with our patronage, else they'll soon disappear.
Top up your bowl of chilli when you've scranned it. Or so it says on the board. Only had the one bowl as it was a quick stop off.
Apparently the guy "The Chilli Devil" has been around a while, but opened a bar as a change to selling his chilli at markets? Found a HDF article http://www.hulldailymail.co.uk/news/hull-east-yorkshire-news/real-ale-chilli-bar-earning-128730
What if I eat it then get the mrs a four quid bowl and she eats that, then I get another four quid bowl? Allowed? Beer prices reasonable?
I didn't see the full terms and conditions you tight bastard. Just mentioned top ups on the board. But I imagine it my be frowned upon. I'd suggest a better course of action would be to continue to order top ups for yourself while the Mrs looks on. Then when you've had your fill, let her finish the left overs. You could throw her the odd scrap along the way. They can't complain about that.
Bloody hell. Tough crowd. You eat a bowl of chilli, but you fancy seconds. So they sell you the second bowl for a quid less. What's not to like? If only they had the same policy for beer.
http://www.hulldailymail.co.uk/whats-on/food-drink/cool-new-pizzeria-coming-fruit-262840 Buca di Pizza opening on the Fruit Market. Excellent addition. Also figured I'd bump this thread as it's rather excellent.
I like chilli I like beer This very much sounds like me type of place Is it just chilli or are other foodstuffs served?
I've just checked his facebook page and it looks like he does about 3 different dishes a day; not a set menu. Mostly different types of chilli, but some other stuff too like moroccan lamb, beef madras, vegetable dhal, chicken jalfrezi. Fancy a bit of his beef, beer and bacon chilli meself.
