A massive improvement in Colback and will do a good job.

Don't judge potential buys against Colback. That is not the appropriate test. Yes he may be better than Colback but if that is the test we'll end up with a midfield of Obi, Jim, Chippy and No Chance.

Agree. We need squad numbers and for 2m he has good experience and quality on the ball.

Obis bulk would mean we would have to stand behind him.

    Brief, succinct and unfortunately true.

Not in the slightest bit interested, would be better off with Rob Lee rinsing off retirement

If we have any ambition beyond fighting for Premiership survival then, no, look for better.

Cheeky f@cker, I've represented the Toon with some aplomb, I can tell you.
I've actually played at Goodison and been thrown out of Goodison, not in the same year I may add.

I'd imagine he's competiton/back up for shelvey. Decent passing range and an aerial presence. Improves the squad, still need good players with mobility around either. I'm okay with this if it comes off.

Decent business IF he is seen as a squad player. Disappointing if he is seen as a first teamer.

"Benitez will also look to tap into the former Spurs stars experience and ability to help control the tempo of games alongside his former Hull team-mate Mo Diame at St James’ Park."

So we're looking at a midfield of Huddlestone and Diame, awesome...

No way is Diame staying past this summer. He's proven questionable at Championship level, will get massively found out at PL level, and we have a bloated squad which is also in need of quality signings so needs to be thinned out. Diame is prime for transfer, probably to a recently relegated team.

As much as I'd love the idea of Diame ballsing things for Sunderland and lolloping around in their midfield in the championship, I can see Rafa actually keeping him, he seems to like him and I can see him hanging on to him as a squad player.

Colback's definitely on the way out though I'd say, Rafa's ruthless enough not to care about birthplace and loyalty.
