A quick re match with the Terriers after our rather woeful performance at their gaff on Boxing Day, we were distinctly pap although truth be told if we had taken early chances we may have come away with a better result but in the end we got what we deserved which was sod all.
After Tuesday's good performance at the under performing Rams, it is a return to home were we lost last time out. Town have improved although have thrown in a few odd performances last Saturday losing at home to Cardiff who put three in the net.
They have lost the last three, two in the league and the cup tie at Reading although they did have a player sent off in that one. Attack wise Wells is a danger having potted two against us in the first match, Huws does not play as he is injured and Hudson is suspended.
Pearson is suspended following his 10th booking of the season on Tuesday so basically will not be far away from the side that played in Huddersfield, still feel we need someone alongside Garner to stick the all in the net, Beckford still seems miles away from being fit. Plenty of ex Town connections at Deepdale so maybe a point to prove. Town had sold 1800 tickets as of Wednesday, so should be a decent atmosphere, hopefully a closer game than last time.

NE need to win this one: the Terriers are just behind NE on the table. A pity about Pearson. Why should NE be punished for something that he player did while playing for another team? Let's face it, yellow cards are given out like toffees by some refs and no appeals.

A tactical genius is Simon Grayson, if the plan was to play like park footballers for 75 minutes go a goal down before coming from behind to win late in injury time then the plan worked superbly, however suspect that it will be one of our more luckier games but no matter how bad we were we scored more goals than Town and took the points.
Town dominated the first half, keeping the ball well playing a continental type of play with all outfield players being comfortable on the ball although skipper Lynch looked more of an old type of stopper. Town looked really lively in the first 10 minutes and had an early chance through the impressive Wells but his effort was saved by Lindegaard. North End slowly got into the game but were having to make do with scraps because when they got the ball they soon gave it away. North End looked dangerous from set plays although Gallagher's delivery was not the best for the majority of the time. Lynch blasted a shot from 30 plus yards which clipped the top of the bar and after Wright had made a complete horlicks by trying to be Messi at the other end, Town broke away and only Gallagher's great recovery prevented further danger. Wright had a header which went over the bar, he really should have scored. Was quite happy to get to half time level.
Town could have been out of sight within 10 minutes of the second half, one good save by Lindegaard and two efforts that went narrowly wide, got the impression that they may pay for those misses. North End brought on Johnson and Welsh and although still poor they did slightly improve the team. Wells had another chance to give Town the lead but spurned that one as well. Then with 10 minutes to go Town took a deserved lead, four players went for a bouncing ball in the area,Wells won the race and slid the ball home. Looked all over for the home side, but within three minutes we were level. A corner found it's way to Gallagher whose woeful shot was kneed into his own net by Lynch, barely deserved but never say no to a gift. Then as the game drifted into injury time it was the tale of two substitutes. North End's Doyle chased down a ball and got the better of Town's Boyle, passed the ball to Woods whose cross found Browne who headed home the winner from 10 yards. Barely believable but all was nearly thrown away a corner caused mayhem in the home defence and the ball was cleared from the line although quite a few of us thought it was over the line, but not given and with that North End stole the points from Huddersfield.
Can imagine the Town fans Dancing with Tears in their eyes on the way home.

Preston manager Simon Grayson: "We kept going, got fortunate with the own goal and then Browney made his way into the box very late like he did for the team meeting at half past one.

"He had a puncture on the motorway. He'll be celebrating tonight but will be reprimanded after the weekend with a fine.

"It is club rules, he's lucky other managers might not have played him but he came up with the goods so it won't be as severe as it maybe would have been!"

Huddersfield manager David Wagner: "There is frustration and disappointment. This is one of the harder days since we started our journey three months ago.

"It is so hard and frustrating because the gap between our performance and our result is unbelievably big.

"In my opinion the lads did a very good performance and played great football."

What is it about playing in front of the D'dale crowds? The team seems to fumble around.
