In short - does anyone know how to open files with the .fbw extension. This is one for the real techies but I don't hold out much hopes as, having Googled the problem I find myself with, loads of people have encountered the very same problem and no-one has come up with an answer that works. Story. Old HP Pavilion laptop running Windows Vista. My hard disk was corrupt and couldn't open the Windows files. Like a twit, I ran the HP Back Up and Recovery program to save all my files. Then like an even bigger twit, I ran the factory reset program to set my laptop back to the state it was in when shipped. Doh. Big mistake. When I tried to run the Recovery part of the facility it couldn't read its own ****ing files. Now, all my files are on a removable disk in a format that no-one can ****ing well read. HP haven't a clue and the company that wrote the software for HP don't seem to want to know. Apparently people have been searching a solution since Vista came out but I only hit the problem a month ago. The only proposed solution I haven't been able to try is to get a laptop running Windows XP Pro and try that. By now one would have thought that someone, somewhere, would have discovered how to open these files. It's all very frustrating so I thought, I know there are some intelligent techies on here so why not give it a go. Crash helmet on Advice If any one has a similar problem DO NOT USE HP BACKUP & RECOVERY. Drop into MS DOS and manually copy your important files to an external device
Put it in a chest freezer overnight and it will unbuckel. Had the same problem with my Shwinn Superstock.
And yes I have Windows 10 (which I don't like much) and K That's why a put the short version (one sentence) first Ciaran. I tried
Prefer tea B-C. I have the latest version of Norton 360 but a virus checker doesn't help much when there is no virus. Just that the executable that is meant to read the back up files can't read them. Clever eh
This fella goes into a shop and asks for a bottle of brown sauce, "HP" says the shopkeeper, "no I'll pay for it now"says the fella.
I wonder what I was going to say there ............ ........................ No idea - ah well, it's my age you know
