Yeah I know, I saw on Good morning Britain earlier that the building was at risk of collapsing like you said.

Wouldn't have been built with one and probably deemed to expensive to retro fit.

I'd expect to see most of these tower blocks now fitted with some kind of sprinkler system now though.

Piers Morgan on Good Morning Britain absolutely tearing the owner of the refurb company to bits...

Very sad news, babies being thrown out of windows, that's how desperate people were.

Awful incident and there will be people who have a lot to answer for. As an employee in the housing industry it makes us wonder whether new laws will come in to prevent situations like this. Seems one of my fiancées colleagues from their London office lives there and is unaccounted for....not good

Piers Morgan is a twat though. It's an awful situation yet when I watched GMB this morning I can't help but feel he is only interested in his own personal agenda and not about the people...

    This sums it up actually.

Even if they've got out with their lives they've lost everything. Asking them how they feel etc is the most stupid and insensitive question.

Anyone on here who is a journalist, you are pricks

Agreed the timing is insensitivity personified, why can't people wait until the fire services have done their jobs before twats like Morgan appear on the scene.

Given that residents on the fourth floor have said that the only stairwell was full of smoke within minutes, then the number of deaths is going to rise significantly. Those on the upper floors will have had no chance.

A member of my wife's team at work has confirmed he got out of the building with burn injuries and is being treated in hospital. She was and still is working about 4 miles away and she can see and smell smoke now. Large numbers of people are in shock having watched such a terrifying incident as you could see it for miles.

Nine firefighters injured. This is a terrible, terrible incident and my thoughts are with all affected. Peace.

The tenants had an ongoing issue with the landlord about fire safety.
There's some speculation that some refurbishments actually made things worse, too.
Someone should be in deep, deep **** over this, but I'll be surprised if it happens.
Hundreds of people that are dead, hospitalised or homeless.

The consultants and building regs department are in for an interesting period ahead if that's the case.
