People still in the building but totally destroyed... http://www.mirror.co.uk/news/uk-news/west-london-tower-block-engulfed-10619120
Terrible news....I see the block every time I go to HQ. Devastating fire....on the news local councillor stated the block had been recently refurbished but said there may have been a problem with the gas supply ...people are also saying there was an explosion too. Absolutely terrible....
Horrific! One can barely only imagine how they must have suffered. A real towering inferno. My thoughts and prayers are with both the dead, the survivors and their families, as well as the rescue service. I am sure that we will hear of many heroic deeds and actions.
Just saw that, the smoke must have killed a lot. Bloke said it was only neighbours smoke alarms Woke him up, not the Block's
Devastating fire....looks horrific. The death toll will be huge unfortunately...RIP to all those killed, imagine there will be lot of kids amongst those which is heartbreaking.
Dreadful news & when I first saw it I thought of terrorist, but seems like an appliance fault started it.
Awful, awful news. I cannot imagine the terror of being caught up in that. Thoughts and prayers to those involved. Makes most of our petty problems insignificant. God help them.
This is truly shocking..... https://grenfellactiongroup.wordpress.com/2016/11/20/kctmo-playing-with-fire/
This sort of incident shouldn't be happening in a 21st century modern day country. There were concerns raised by the residents about the safety of this apartment block but fell on deaf ears. Kensington and Chelsea Tenant Management Organisation Limited will have a lot to answer to. https://grenfellactiongroup.wordpress.com/2016/11/20/kctmo-playing-with-fire/
999's If this is the case I think what KCTMO might have to answer to is could be murder/man slaughter.
Clearly shocking management and a lack of appropriate fire safety. Heads will roll for this. Sincere condolences to all involved.
The buck has to stop with the regulatory authorities, private companies can only get away with what they're allowed to, and if this building was not built and equipped to the required standard then who allowed them to get away with it?
If they are found to be culpable then I would think prison sentences. We'll have to wait and see what the investigation brings before speculating. Whatever the circumstances a fire shouldn't spread that rapidly in such a building with today's technology and materials available. I'm hearing some horrific stories. Thoughts to all those involved.
