QPR owners give Hoos expanded role By David McIntyre 04/01/2017 please log in to view this image QPR chief executive Lee Hoos has been handed overall responsibility for the running of the entire club. Hoos, who has been responsible for non-football matters since being appointed in May 2015, has had his role extended by Rangers’ Malaysian owners as part of a review. With the American having reduced costs off the pitch in the last 18 months, co-chairmen Ruben Gnanalingam and Tony Fernandes have asked him to oversee all aspects of the club, including the football side. Notwithstanding his role in implementing budgets and seeking to reduce costs, Hoos will not be directly involved in areas such as player recruitment and other football matters currently overseen by Les Ferdinand. But he will have overall responsibility for them as part of the restructure. The change comes after the owners acknowledged concerns that their being based mostly outside the UK was having a negative impact on the club. Director of football Ferdinand has previously had to seek the green light from the owners on a range of issues before proceeding, which, with Gnanalingam and Fernandes based overseas, has often been problematic because of the time difference. Hoos, who has formed a strong relationship with Ferdinand, will now be able to sign off on certain decisions while keeping the owners informed.
Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia is 8 hours ahead of London, United Kingdom. how have we coped with such a time difference all these years
The "negative impact" is not about being based outside the UK, its all about being completely bleeding clueless!
Hoos he really impressed me...and he knows how to run a club too...He took Burnley (and Leicester) to the club's they are now I think that he has also stabilized us too, in the couple of years he has been here....we are definitely not the basketcase club we were before he came This can only be good methinks
I had been wondering about his role and was dreading to read one day that he had gone so I am pleased with his. The only fly in the ointment is whose nose will be put out of joint by this? SLF? Ollie? I hope it was a move welcomed by all senior staff at the club and won't cause tension. For those who have met him, is he a 'my way or no way' sort of man of more of a consensus style leadership?
If we can get anywhere close to where Burnley/Leicester are now then don't think would be too many dissenters even on this forum. Myself, I'd be singing & dancing in the street (poor Wellingtonians)
I interpret this as a very positive sign. A professional is now not only fully in charge of the finances, but is also overseeing the football matters. It is a great vote of confidence in Hoos and an acceptance by the owners to take a real back step. I hope that we shall soon start to see the positive effects of this changes. COYR'sss!
We're not leaking money or spending it lavishly as if we were Galacticos. However we are a basket case unless this means that Fernandes and his cohorts will not be able to make panic decisions every few months. The other possibility however is that he has been set up to take the blame together with or instead of Sir Les if it all gets worse before it gets better.
He's better at finance than our board and no worse at footballing decisions than anyone else at the club so I'm all for it.

Apparently he and SLF get on really well RTID.[/QUOTE] Tx for that. In that case, happy days and right direction. We need to be patient - over more than half a season and more likely 3 to 5 seasons. I'll be retired by then so can go to more games. Silver lining.
