Scunthorpe was the quietist game I've ever been to. It was just me and my raincoat though.

 

Usually the football-for-a-fiver days attract a crowd of about 22,000. This saturday I'd guess about half that, announced as 15,500. Some are talking about protest-for-a-fiver, which might add a few extra bums on seats. I saw the photos of the ground on Tuesday, it looked no more than 5,000. The official attendance figure must be based on the total number of tickets printed. Since Uncle Roland only devotes 1.5% of his time to Charlton it's easy for theCEO to fob him off with a pack of lies "All is well here, Uncle Roly. No more protests, attendances down slightly due to relegation. We've started a new supporters' group T10K which are expected to hit their target on Saturday"

 

Slug coat? No self respecting slug would be seen dead in it.

 

I reckon KF still lies awake at night remembering Colchester, and how a giant turtle emerged out of the fans to abuse him.
Oh yeah, and sneaking out of the ground in a laundry van. Part of the iconography of Charlton now. When they expand the museum, I hope they include a laundry basket with a KF dummy inside for us to marvel over.

 

One day they will make a film about it, with Hugh Grant playing Karel and Vincent Schiavelli playing the Elfs
