http://www.hullcityafc.net/page/NewsDetail/0,,10338~2293784,00.html The Tigers have signed defender Jack Hobbs on loan from Leicester City until the end of the season. Hobbs, who has made 30 appearances for the Foxes this season, completed the move earlier today and will bring further competition for places in the Tigers' back line.
Onwards and upwards .Great bit of business as I expect he'll be signed on a perm at the end of the season. As far as centre halves go he's still a baby so definately one for the future. Only down side, don't you think he looks like Dean Marney ?
sorry im going to cheat and post what I did in the other thread. He is a very good centre half for this level, and Pearson usually brings his new signings strait into the team. I personally wouldnt break up the Gerrard and Chester partnership but Pearson knows far more than me.
Eriksson is adamant that Hobbs will stay but if he prefers working under Nigel then I don't see why we can't do a deal. A few million on the pairing of Gerrard and Hobbs in the summer would be money well spent.
Just a thought. Perhaps Chester coúld be the missing link in midfield? Certainly a ball winner and can pick a pass.
Fantastic news! Well, er, I have to admit I'd never heard of him till a few days ago. Nigel wants him so he must be good.
"Sven said just loan nothing more. So Hobbs is still a fox." Sven's just hedging his bets here, which is quite a clever move really. If we get promoted then I suspect Hobbsy will be off permanently because as much as I love the lad he isn't (and I'm not sure whether he ever will be) Premiership standard. By bigging him up and appearing reluctant to sell we'll be in a far better position to drive the price up if this happens. If we don't get promoted we can simply recall Jack, who will think that we never wanted to sell him, and we've got a good champo player back on our books. Hopefully he'll have had a good spell with Hull and will be feeling confident and wanted by Sven who can put him back in the side. We don't need him at the moment so why let a young lad rot on the bench? Good business all round and I hope he does well for you Tigers.
If you look on his wiki page (not the most reliable source i know...) he has some decent acolades to his name: Alongside Leicester's League One title, Hobbs was named in the PFA League One Team of the Year and was voted Leicester City supporters club young player of the season for the 2008ââ¬â09 season.[10] A day later Leicester signed Hobbs on a permanent deal for an undisclosed fee on 24 April 2009, signing a four-year contract after a successful season with the club.[11] His overall performance in the 2009ââ¬â10 season earned him the club's player of the year and players' player of the year (shared with teammate Andy King) awards on 27 April 2010.[12] Very curious to see who we field on saturday now.
hope this one ends up being a permanent one, were starting to get a superb squad together. I believe going up most of them would flourish, young players with a future is brilliant to see. mannones back in a couple of weeks aswell. looking good.
sven said just loan but i think if he does half decent for us , we all know NP is going to want him to stay... crucial point in this and i believe a few leicester fans are worried about this, is that hobbs will likely enjoy playing for NP again, will feel wanted by us and will likely want to stay... so sven could play hardball but if the player wants to stay, the ball is our court. Also I doubt sven will not want to spend more cash over the summer... so i think it's 95% sure he'll stay permenantly.
