    He just realised he needed to hurry things along and wa prepared to pay to do it.

    It's like when you're on an airplane and you start helping an old lady with a bag and inside you're thinking " look god I'm helping this old bitch with her bag please don't let the plane crash " Then she says thank you and inside you're like " this has absolutely nothing to do with you lady"
