Chance to vote for the best ''Event'' that has ever happened at Wembley! The 1988 Charlton v Sunderland Play-Off Final is one of the choices! It got my vote!! Two teams threw caution to the wind in the First Division Play-Off Final and conjured up a thriller, arguably the most dramatic game of football in Wembleyââ¬â¢s history. The lead changed hands three times over 120 minutes with Clive Mendonca scoring a hat-trick for Charlton. With the score at 4ââ¬â4 after full time, the prize of a place in the Premier League was decided in a shootout for the very first time in its history. After 13 successful penalties, Sasa Ilic saved Sunderlandââ¬â¢s Michael Grayââ¬â¢s under-hit shot and Charlton joined footballââ¬â¢s top table for the first time since 1990. http://greatestevent.wembleystadium.com/
My vote is in... What i wouldn't give to find ourselves in that position again. In spite of all the premiership games we played in, that playoff final along with our return to The Valley were without doubt the best moment of my Charlton supporting life.
Thanks for letting me know about this, I'll place me vote But wasn't it in 1998, not 1988? Sure it wasn't that far back
Is there a version for Greatest Games played at the DW Stadium .... on a Sunday ... in May .... well specifically the 15th of May ... in 2011 .... that kicked off at 4pm

Same Franco, these was the magical days when the players really cared about Charlton! Let's hope he brings in some players with some heart & passion for the club over the summer!
Will vote tonight. Nothing beats that game in my mind although beating the Arse 4-2 at the library was a great day also!
