The one thing we can be sure about is that we will see many goals in 2017. Some we will be happy about, some will have us hitting the wall in frustration. May all of our personal goals in 2017 come true. The grim reaper can quite happily scythe 2016 for good. We lost so many people - Fidel Castro, Mohammed Ali, David Bowie, Leonard Cohen, plus many others. Our World caved in in June, and was further Trumped 2 months later. But, on the brighter side, we are all still here and long may that continue. Especiall thanks to SH. for managing to keep us all so morbidly entertained over the course of 2017. So, what will 2017 bring ? What are your hopes for 2017 ? My wish list is peace in Syria, some kind of solution which satisfies both the 52% and the 48% on Brexit, success for the Horns, continued health in 2017, lots of points in the WPL ! And a happy new year for all of us.
Cheer up, we are in good hands with Liam Fox and David Davis leading the charge for the UK on the Brexit Front. Most of the Johnny foreigners quickly retreat in the face of stiff opposition with the bulldog spirit. Hopefully Germany will not suffer a repeat of the mass sexual and physical abuses by migrants tonight, Merkel cannot afford to lose anymore support. With any luck the Euro will crash in 2017, giving hope to Greece, Italy, Spain Portugal amongst others, to get their economies back on track. The UK needs successful European nations to trade with.
Yes been a particularly awful one in many ways. I had an old friend who died this year, Jon Cainer, an astrologer. I guess he would link it to the planets etc. On the family front it has been a good one, a marriage, a new baby, and a moving out.... covers our three kids.... so all good. On the global front my hopes include : The stopping of proxy wars Peace between warring factions in the middle east Some sanity in our government and an approach which benefits all Good health for all my friends and loved ones Proper funding of our vital services Watford above 12th in the Prem Have a good one
I wish everyone, whatever their circumstances, will both give and receive kindness. I wish everyone will learn something that makes them feel better about themselves. I wish everyone will sustain or discover a desire to look beneath the surface of things. However, I am still some way removed from divinity and suspect my wishes may possibly not come true! Personally we plan to move house, get out more, keep exploring new bits of the world, amuse our grandchildren and exercise strenuously those parts of mind and body which are still up to it! In the meantime...good food, good wine and family this evening and raising a glass or two to 2017. Best wishes to all Hornets everywhere...
Happy new year to all my friendly Hornets, may 2017 bring peace, joy and some kindness. For my new year resolutions, I'm going to stop doing all the things that I hate doing. Hopefully they will last longer than previous year's efforts!
A simple wish from me - health and happiness for all. The nature of things tells me, however, that in our modern world it simply won't happen. So may 2017 just bring us all the best it can.
Just when we all thought there had been enough bad news in 2016, along comes this... http://www.heraldscotland.com/news/...hard_and_The_Shadows_could_get_back_together/
I guess I should add that more of this would be appreciated. 2016 wasn't really all that bad... https://www.watfordfc.com/club/2016-highlights
I was ganged up on by my family to take them out for a rip off New Years meal tonight. I hate all the hype, don't feel that well, might come home straight after the food. I don't like strange women kissing me, especially when I'm sober!! miserable git.
Happy New Year to all. 2016 is one I will be very glad to consign to the rubbish bin having lost my father, father in law, uncle Alwyn (Nais nephew) the biggest influence on my young life (a real socialist albeit slightly idealistic as I realized later, not the plastic career ones that occupy the parties), one of the greatest musicians ever in Bowie, the list just goes on. The world seems a more dangerous and malcontented place this 31st compared to a year ago and I really wish for a reversal in this trend. Obviously I wish for a successful back half of the season for the orns, health and happiness to all my friends family and acquaintances, no more death please, no more neverendums and clarity in the markets so that the country can prosper. A stretch wish is for the removal of the oppressive regime in Venezuela along with a small bounce in oil prices to fund a decent recovery program for that country. I also hope for the arrest and prosecution of every corrupt politician and military officer raping the future out of many S American countries, its begun but a long way to go... Happy new year to all left right and centre but most of all to those who love Watford FC....
Like most on here it has been a bad year. Friends gone with another one to follow shortly. Politics in many countries reduced to the gutter. The long dry summer meant that I didn't have half the produce I expected after a promising start. On the brighter side I continued to have a great time with my neighbours and continued to cement the relationship with them. It was a great summer for sport in the UK, and I had a fantastic two weeks in Corsica. The language skills have stayed very much where they were in January, but my building skills have taken on a new lease of life. For 2017 I am hoping to continue with the project I have on my land, to continue to support my children and grandchildren in whatever way I am able to do. I would like to see a far more human response to the plight of others, and nationality doesn't come in to that. I don't know how it can come about with the country being split down the middle, but I would be happy to know that the UK was more at peace with itself than it is at present. Finally I hope for some modest success in the Watford FC world. Too many years I went without believing that we could be a top 10 club, but now it seems possible. I wish everyone a Happy New Year from rural France.
Happy New Year everyone. A few more downs than ups during 2016 if I'm honest, quite a few. Hopeful rather than particularly optimistic for 2017. As for Watford: optimistic that we will finish higher than last season, less so about a decent cup run.
