So the referrees association has apologised to LJ for the mistake the Ref made disallowing Wilbs goal against Burton, shame Graham Scott didn't apologise personally, hope we don't bear the consequences

Let's just hope that the lost points don't take us down and if they do, then what?

Then nothing!! can't do anything about it, some say bad decisions even themselves out over a season ......To be honest, if we go down, it's because we're one of the worst 3 teams in the championship.

We've not been good enough, full stop but apparently this is the 9th time this season the referees association has apologised about a poor decision given against us, it's not easy being a ref but they are a team and should do better, it's not good in the championship, what must it be like in the lower leagues?

They never seem to get any disciplinary for it, though sometimes, when a Prem ref gets it really wrong he has the honour of reffing a championship game next time out.
Maybe if they had the equivalent of a yellow card that after 5 resulted in a games ban ?
I usually believe that these sort of things iron themselves out over a season. The advantage the ref gave for the first 2 goals v Huddersfield might have been pulled up by a fussier ref

Surely though, that's the difference between a decent ref and one who's not so hot?

There is a very fine line when you blow your whistle, a ref has a certain instinct as we all do called reflex.
    A
seriously bad foul may cause a reaction that is almost instantaneous, a lesser one like a push, holding or slightly mistimed tackle where the "victim" manages to maintain some momentum but keeps the ball should be controlled, I wont say "delayed".
However there are so many scenario's to this, unable to keep up with ball different opponent gets it, another opponent manages to get to him before fully recovered etc
I think Tommo's goal was extremely good refereeing he could have blown for a simple foul, he may have late in the game when it was/if it was 2-2 with 2 mins left! ?

I think a 5/10 second advantage should always be played before bringing it back if nothing comes of it.....I wouldn't go as far as Rugby though

In the scheme of things 10 secs would almost be the D to the D! 5 secs half the pitch almost ! but of course could also be evading a tackle or getting in a pass I think anytime would be discretionary, if he gets "impeded" then gets in a good pass job done, gets a bad pass blows whistle.. its like chicken and egg
10 secs to long maybe 5 most

It's not just the ref - the Lino bears some responsibility.
I was at the Preston home game when Tammy got brought down - as clear a pen as you will ever see - right in front of me and the Lino. Nothing.
You could even hear the sound of the clatter as it happened.

What does wind me up with refs is that they wont give a pen but commit the same or a lesser foul anywhere outside of the penalty area and they will give a free kick readily. Its the same offense. A bit like getting a 2nd yellow card.

The ref made a mistake - our players made about 20 during the course of that game

The decisions even themselves out over time

Referees jobs would be made much easier if the players were not trying to con them all the time

There have always been divers in the game but today it's the norm, and I don't like it because it's cheating. Waving imaginary cards at the ref is also part of the gentlemanly demise of football.

Yes, I agree with you on the imaginary cards- Ought to be punishable by a card in itself in the same way as kicking a ball away is-
