Yes we're as good as in the group stages mate, not sure about the seedings, and the easier the better please lol

I struggle with midweek home games, as I'm 125 miles away but I'll make a couple of the group games if I can get away early.

 

I'd imagine you may be a 2nd seed as we were a 3rd seed last year without hardly any previous and you went pretty far last time round didn't you?


Oh yeah I forget how far away you are. Bet if a Milan or something come to visit you'll find a way though

 

We got to the last 16 last time, and if we drew a side like Milan I'll be going to both legs mate

 

Yeah Milan was a cracking couple of days out and despite the 1-0 defeat, probably my favourite away day ever

Can't beat a European away day, gave me a proper taste for it which probably isn't the best thing being a Saints fan

 

I went on two last season.

One we lost to Porto 5-0 with our reserves, the other we lost 1-0 to Atletico Madrid and got the **** kicked out of us by the Spanish rozzers.


But still, best two away days I've ever been on.

Watching last weeks MOTD 2 and wondering why Newcastle seem to have completely ignored 2 new PL rules that have come in this season by having striped back of shirts and still having away fans in gods.

Anyone know why they've gotten away with it?

 

I didn't know these rules existed tbh mate and the Geordies defence will be they couldn't read them

 

Yeah that's why WBA & Brighton have plain backed shirts as a new rule says there's not to be stripes in the name/number area. Also imo it's one of the reasons we've gone for a 80s style kit to get around it.

The away fan rule is that at least one block has to pitchside, meaning the likes of Newcastle/United etc. would have to change it.


Oh and at the bold bit!

 

They've been given a one season exemption for the away fans, after claiming that security reasons prohibited them from complying.
The kit thing seems to only be enforced in UEFA competitions at the moment, so they're getting away with it.

 

The kit thing has been in UEFA competitions for years I think, I know we had to wear plain backs last year. Bet Brighton/WBA are pissed off though, the Brighton kit in particular looks horrendous!

Fair enough on the away fan thing, had a feeling it might be something like that, do you know if United are doing the same thing?

Pretty sure they're only clubs in league who put away fans up aren't they?

 

I think that Man Utd were the only club affected last season, but I'm not sure if they changed it.
There was some suggestion that White Hart Lane was too, but I've no idea why.
Not an issue this season, for obvious reasons.
