Everyone complains about how our many promising youngsters aren't being given a chance and how crap that is, but maybe our club/managers have been right about them generally not being either ready or good enough? After Cameron McGeehan left for Luton and is still there at 22, Joza is signing for another year at Maidstone at 23, where these guys ever going to trouble our first team? McGraddles has now left also for MK dons at 21. Would he following his injury? Is our club actually handling our youth rather better than we give it credit for? Or might we be looking forward to the playoff final right now if Neil had had the courage to play; Pritchard, Maddison Godfrey with the Murphy's more in the first XI? Bah!
Rhetorical stuff, squire - and the truth is we'll never know. My view is that by signing Whittaker up for that extra year, although mainly as beck up RB and LB (when called upon) allowed AN in particular to persevere with Martin at CB all season. Had RM been used more as Pinto's deputy, I'm sure Ben Godfrey would have had far more opportunities and would be a more rounded, complete and experienced championship player as a result. AN was criminal in under-using Pritchard and don't get me started on Canos It's all ifs and buts, however, as Webber said in one of his first interviews, there's no point in having a Cat 1 academy if the first team don't get to reap the benefits of it
IF we go on and perform as we mostly showed with AI in charge on a regular basis, then it might be a 'double edged sword', as it may help us in attracting emerging talent and if Middleton can continue his development, that can only act to bring other youngsters to Colney.
Monk resigns from Leeds!? If we would have waited, we could have had a crack at him!! If only our board weren't so knee-jerk in signing up a manager!!
Must admit I read the first 2 paragraphs and thought you were being serious, but the last sentence was obviously sarcasm. Although I had no idea who Farke was, I'm strangely optimistic. Think it's the unknown that makes me feel excited, had it been Monk I would have been ok with it but it wouldn't have excited me.
I've always thought I'd make it in Hollywood, and now I know. Thanks mate! I think I would have felt a bit more "secure" or "safer" with a bloke who has a wealth of experience in the English leagues, and has done an amazing job, under tough circumstances at Leeds. But I am very willing to give this guy a chance. He seems a lovely guy, I can't imagine him blowing up and giving a team a b*llocking at half time, but hopefully he has that hidden in him somewhere.
Really? He seems really happy, gentle and camp. I can see him motivating players, but can't see him tearing into someone about a mistake. I'd love to see that side of him on the training pitch. Especially with our squad. I think a few need a proper wake up shout! (although most of our squad has been released on a fee, so he might have a clean slate.)
Michael Bailey interviews him: If there was a moat around the perimeter of Carrow Road, would it now be a farke canal?
Sorry FML, but this is from the article in the EDP this morning - "Farke was City’s number one target, with Leeds United’s coach Garry Monk believed to be the only other contender considered in the closing stages of an exhaustive search conducted by Webber." Full article here - http://www.edp24.co.uk/sport/norwich-city/norwich-city-confirm-daniel-farke-appointment-1-5034430 It appears that SW gave the board 2 names. I sort of understand what you're saying in that at least Monk has experience of managing in the Championship, but given the choice, I'm FAR more excited by the signing of DF and if it goes tits up, I'll quite happily 'eat humble pie!!!'
100% thought that during the interview! I thought I'd be the only one to think that! That's made me laugh.
