Even if Dijks can be persuaded to stay, we'd need back up for him. Though whether McLaughlin would be content to be solely that is uncertain. Sounds like a goer - and as the article says, if we don't, someone who relies on freebies, hand-me-downs and Forest Green Rovers cast-offs may do.

He is holding all the cards, old Rafa. They need to keep hold of him. They won't get a better manager if he leaves. The fans would be right behind this. I've heard a reporter on talksport who covers the North East saying always "they might say, here's 60M. what does 60M get you these days!? 2-3 players!? He needs to put in 100-150M into a war chest!"

I'm thinking...They are just coming up from the Championship!! Who does he want them to sign?! 60M gets you 2 or 3 players if you are a top 4 Prem side! Otherwise, 60M would build you a squad if you have decent scouts and coaches! Imagine if we ever got told we "would only have 60M to spend if we went up" I'd open some bubbly!!

Rafa is right to push. He won't even consider a risk of a relegation on his CV. I was amazed he spend a season in the Championship. If anyone will give Ashley a kick up the a*se, it's him.

But still...The figures talked about as not enough, is insane.

Thanks for that FML and Rafa is spot on to push for that level of investment and if I was a Magpies fan, I'd be pretty p1553d if the lump of blubber didn't stump up that sort of cash, as a second season in the PL is worth well over that figure.
I'm sure if Delia had told AN has had that sort of cash to spend, need just have signed MORE ACMs!!

 

I'm guessing that the names of Managers are still a distant whisper!?

Why has there been no big stories of a target or a few targets?!

I've never known this long without a manager without at least a few names in the media as very possible.

I've heard nothing for months!!

Most of the managers I wanted have been taken by teams who sacked their manager way after us, but acted instantly.

There's no-one decent left!

Another thing about football! Why every-time we compete for a promotion or relegation, are clubs we are up against get caught cheating. Threats of them being deducted points or similar, and nothing happen!?

Hear Newcastle are under investigation for their finances and cheating. I bet they get points deducted in the Premiership if any at all. My honest guess will be, like QPR and the others. Nothing will happen. Maybe a 30,000 fine. Which when you think of how many million you get for finishing bottom of the Premiership now....What's the f*cking point!?

Isn't it now becoming obvious that it is worth cheating in football?

Just remembered, Bournemouth were another. Broke financial rules too. Small fine. They got promoted and stayed up.

 

But why at the end of the season!?

Why not give these pointless games to get to know the club and squad and make his mind up about players?

He's going to have to decide on staff and players in a pre-season!?

That sounds like making everything harder than it needs to be.

That's why we always lose out. No other clubs just wait until they think it is gentlemanly to do something. They act, because you have to. Even if Newcastle do get a points deduction (they won't the cheaters never do) Leeds wont get promoted. They still finished above us. and I'm sure every manager knows our board never back a manager with the money needed.

Why would any decent manager leave the club they are doing well with, for our mess?
