He's who I wanted in the first place. Some laughed at me at the time saying he's not done much as he fell into a good Swansea job etc. I know Leeds naffed it up themselves when they was in a good position to get playoffs but I would still pick him up and carry him into our club. Comparing SL to the Leeds chairman This he only likes yes men is a made up thing from these forums. Can anyone definitely say they know for fact?
Really ? When you compare the history and potential between ourselves and Leeds we are a very small fish. Players and Managers will always choose a Leeds over a Bristol City I don't like saying it, but it's also true.
But you didn't say anything about history only on how the clubs are run. So comparing how we're run to how they are is laughable.
The same Leeds that Darrell Clarke turned down? So which is it? Did Garry Monk work with Leeds regardless of their crappy owners? Or are Bristol Rovers now bigger than us?
So when were they a truly huge club, a long long time ago, and it will be a long time before that happens again, if ever.
A lot of football owners/chairmen over the years going right back to when I first got interested in football have been frankly arseholes, who know little or nothing about the sport, and care even less. Clubs have had everything in the way of owners - from bankers, scrap metal millionaires, Post Masters, ex cons, snooker and boxing management etc etc. What I was saying was that despite the antics of Massimo Cellino, Leeds United, simply because of who they are, will always attract better players and Managers than we will.
But the fact that Darrell Clarke turned them down negates that surely? And to be fair, that wasn't your point, your point was that Garry Monk wouldn't come to us based on our owners. And it's a fact that he doesn't really give a damn about crappy owners, even if you believe that SL is one.
was totally out of his depth in the PL with us (both as a player and manager), far better suited to a Championship side, worth a shout
