    That's true and I agree.

I just think personally I wouldn't give a **** and I'd come out if it was me. I know that's a naive and basic view. I just think the sooner it happens the sooner it will just be a norm. Similar to how black players used to get abuse, now it rarely happens.

Until someone does it then ****ty programmes and threads will whinge and moan as they do now.

    Man up footballers basically.

I always hated the chants at Sol Campbell about him being gay and never joined in but it did make me laugh that he denied being gay by saying...

I am not gay, ask anyone and they will tell you...I am a man's man <laugh>

I don't think it's just the fans that are the concern.

I personally couldn't give a hoot whether you're black, pink, brown, orange, gay, bi, deviant or a giraffe fancier. All bar those with anything to do with Liverpool FC are ok in my mind, I couldn't give a ****.

Doubt that applies to your average footballer though and I'm not surprised gay players don't come out. They shouldn't have to either.

Andre Gray, who we've been vaguely linked to recently, made some horrific comments on Twitter a few years ago.
A bit strange that he was banned for it after so long, but it's hard to object to when you see them:

He did apologise for them later and claimed that he no longer held these views.
Could be genuine, but how many in the game still share them?

I dont have a problem with lifters myself but i dont see why Gareth Thomas needs to harp on about it now he is retired truth is he denied it for years as he didnt want it to effect his career and now he is happy to be photographed in a pink frilly get up in a national paper...
Bully for Gareth but i honestly dont see why he feels the need ram it down peoples throats...(excuse the pun)
From rugby legend to lifter activist lets all give him a clap lol

Cant be easy..i'd struggle to admit that i own a pair of Sandals out of fear of being labelled a terrorist in this first world country of ours.

I'm hoping to organise a Sandal Pride day soon..all welcome.

    Does it??

I am not homophobic but I don't agree with Gareth's one man gay crusade either since he has come out that's all he has done...

If he felt that strong about it he would have come out sooner not marry a woman and mess her life up as well. ...

Sorry if that doesn't fit what people should say these days if I've upset anyone I will pop out and buy an I love gays t shirt to keep people happy...

can we wear football socks with them?

I have no ill will to most gays, but the propagandists who pitch little children should be arrested, along with 'human rights activist' Peter Tatchel whose main stated aim when I first saw him speak on breakfast TV in the early 90's seemed to be for him to have sex with schoolboys without fear of prosecution.

It's one thing to be gay and let people know ( If you want to do so ) But for Tatchel to actively try to " Out " Gay's , that could ruin their lives , was and is utterly disgusting IMHO .

I'm not particularly familiar with his story, as I don't follow rugby.
Did he know that he was gay when he got married?

he is a truly insipid person, but no one dare touch him for fear of being 'outed' as an evil homophobe, rather than a protector of impressionable pre-teens from predatory paedophiles. '14 just a start' shouts his aim loud and clear.

Throughout the 1990s Tatchell campaigned for equal age of consent as the age of consent for gay men was 21. It was lowered to 18 before finally being lowered to 16 so it was equal.
I don't recall him ever advocating older men having sex with school boys. He was however against people being convicted as sexual predators for having sex with an 18 year old. Happened to a lot of 21-25 year olds at the time.
I am not a fan of Tatchell but think this is an unfair criticism imho.

I agree with this...it is a cruel thing to do. People have the right to decide who does and does not know their person information.

I have honestly never heard that he thinks that the age of consent should be lowered to 14. I have no idea why anyone would think that is a good idea.

he doesn't want it lowered to 14, he wants it lower than that (I actually get the impression from some of the things he's on record as saying he wants it done away with completely) because he isn't campaigning for the gay community, he's campaigning for himself, and making him quite a bit of money in the process. I wish I could find the interview I saw him do on breakfast TV in the early 90's.

Like I said ... I never heard him say those things...****ing grim idea to lower the age of consent or get rid of it.
