Semi serious action starts tomorrow at Victory Park, Chorley for the Jack Kirkland Trophy. Mix and match side no doubt. Also play on Sunday at Irongate against Bamber Bridge, they usually take no prisoners and will probably kicka few egos. Won't be going don't usually do the pre season games however will venture the the land of the Cod(Fleetwood) on Wednesday. It's almost here those long Saturday afternoons without games will be now a memory for the next 9 months. GAME ON FOLKS FOOTIES BACK
Wont be going to the friendlies maclad, but very interested in finding out what happens and in particular what team we have out.. Who will be in goal today just for starters....and left back.. for seconds...and for main course who will the two central defenders be and the right back. I wont mention sweet as there is likely to be none on the menu.. Great to be that bit nearer the start of the season and be able to discuss players and performances etc, I hate the close season.
Preston North End retained the Jack Kirkland Memorial Trophy for the ninth year running with victory over Chorley. Result of the first pre season freindly ..........Chorley 0 PNE 2 First pre season friendly and PNE take the spoils. Teams. MOTM for PNE...Arestidou.... keeper. Gate 1502 According to the minute by minute report PNE put in a decent shift and were worthy winners. Mellor and Hume played well together and second half Proctor impressed as well. PNE had a trialist on view "MacLean" a central defender from Scotland (ex Falkirk/Motherwell/Rangers) out of the Scottish Premier league, at 6' 2" was a commanding figure in the air. Well done PNE.
Hi! maclad.. Teams. Once again PNE are fielding two different teams to feature in each half with the only exception being goalkeeper Dominic Comrie who is in for the full 90. PNE 1st Half: Comrie, McLaughlin, Parry, Barton, Wright, Devine, Clucas, Miller, Proctor, Douglas, McLellan. Subs: Osobe, Arestidou. PNE 2nd Half: Comrie, Clucas, James, Russell, Mayor, McLean, Mayor, Hume, Mellor, Nicholson, Middleton. Subs: Osobe, Arestidou, Wright. Louis Mayers produced a fine finish to put Brig ahead in the 20th minute of this pre-season friendly. But two goals in as many minutes turned the game in North End’s favour, Michael McLellan levelling with a stunning volley in the 37th minute, before Jamie Proctor struck a close range winner.
Morning TFP, Kendal V PNE Myself. superior, daws cpf and probably micky & Mooney are meeting for a pint up in Kendal a week on wednesday before the game. you fancy it?
Morning SL.. I would very much like to meet up with you lads at Kendal, and thanks for the offer it's much appreciated..... Unfortunately I can't get up there for various reasons but will be following the game on the PNE minute by minute match report. Great to know that you are meeting up and supporting PNE. I am sure you will all enjoy each other's company and have lot's to talk about, I was going to say without any mods to keep you in check but forgot about Mooney... Once again the offer is much appreciated and thanks again..
PNE teams for tonight's game at Highbury against Fleetwood Town. PNE 1st Half: Arestidou, McLaughlin, Cooper, Carlisle, Morgan, Barton, Mayor, Hume, Mellor, Nicholson, Parry. As you can see Clarke Carlisle is in the line-up for the Lilywhites after Burnley have given us permission to play the central defender. As yet, Carlisle is not a Preston player but the Club are in negotiations with his representatives. Alex Cooper is a left-back on trial with the Club. PNE 2nd Half: Comrie, Clucas, Wright, McLean, Mills, Russell, Middleton, Miller, Proctor, McLellan, Carter. Sub: Osobe. I think it fair to point out that tonight's game is the next step up from Chorley and the Brig, so PNE will have to step up to the mark accordingly......we will see if they can. Strong rumours that Carlisle has signed for PNE even though the above states quite clearly that he hasn't yet done so. Half time: Fleetwood Town 0 PNE 1........... A 42nd minute goal by Barry Nicholson is enough to put North End 1-0 up at the break Full time score from Highbury.................. Fleetwood Town 0. PNE 4. gate 1626 Preston North End stepped up their pre-season preparations by putting four goals past Fleetwood Town on Wednesday night. Their first visit to the Highbury Stadium for many years ended up being something of a stroll in the sun, although it was only in the second half when North End really put their hosts to the sword. Barry Nicholson set the ball rolling for the visitors, giving them a half-time lead with a 41st minute. Jamie Proctor maintained his impressive summer form with two goals either side of the hour mark. And Darren Carter stroked home a superb free-kick for the fourth goal soon after Proctor’s brace to the delight of a large travelling support. A very decent performance by all accounts, and PNE had stepped up to the mark and gained their reward.
Went last night Plumbs, the 2nd half performance from the youngsters was up several gears than the first teamers in the first half. Opening goal excellent move started by Carlisle. 2nd half Procter rang them ragged, he looks a useful prospect, good workout though
If we can keep Carter and treacy I fancy we could be in for a good season, nice to see a couple of left footed left backs being trialed
Sound's like you were quite impressed maclad and particularly by the PNE youngsters. Proctor is doing the business and if he continues will most certainly be pushing for a place for the start of the season. The lad is scoring goals and giving defenders a hard time and pushing Mellor in particular for his shirt. Carlisle is said to have impressed as did the two left backs on trial. Hopefully things are beginning to fall into place and so far the pre season has gone very well...
There is room for optimism finneyfan, and so far pre season has gone well and if we continue as we have then PNE should do well in the coming season. The two left backs on trial did their chances no harm at all by all accounts and could end up gaining a contract. Carlisle could make a real difference in defence. Maybe McLean as well if he continues to do well, bigger tests lay ahead in Scotland so not getting too carried away..
Anyone any idea what has happened to Liliywhite For Ever ?????????? he has been missing for some three weeks now...
Afternoon. Today PNE move up another rung of the pre season friendly game ladder when they play Falkirk away. Today's teams. PNE: Lucas, McLean, Mills, Carlisle, Morgan, Clucas, Mayor, Russell, Mellor, Proctor, Parry (c) PNE subs: McLaughlin, Wright, Devine, Barton, Miller, Cooper, Middleton, Comrie, Arestidou. "LUCAS" Just to clear the situation up concerning David Lucas, he has permission from his club Swindon Town to play for Preston this afternoon. ?????? Falkirk: McGovern, Duffie, Scobbie, Dods (c), Bennett, Murdoch, Alston, Millar, Allagui, Higginbotham, Sibbald. PNE gave a goal away after the first thirty seconds and go in at half time 1-0 down. All to play for in the second half. **************************************************************************************************** Full time score from Falkirk: Falkirk 2 PNE 2 PNE have show great character to come back from 2-0 down and rescue a 2-2 draw at Falkirk. Their unbeeaten pre season form continues. PNE scorers : Proctor (penalty) and McLaughlin. Well done to the young lads who fought back to earn a draw against a difficult Falkirk side, who are two weeks ahead of PNE in terms of fitness.
Hope that this puts the 'LUCAS' thing to bed once and for all. He's 33 for goodness sake. There must be younger keepers out there. The current club management is in the spotlight and it does not look good.
