    Watched a few recently...

Fury, was a brilliant film, highly recommend to anybody who likes nazi-killing films.

American Sniper, not bad, but not great either. Two or three brilliant scenes clouded by a fairly boring story line. True story but needed a lot more to be worthy of the hype it's received.

Equalizer, Denzel Washington pulled this out the bag, I loved it, others will think it was total ****. He plays a cool as **** silent assassin, easy watching lads film.

Hobbit 5 Armies - the biggest load of **** I've seen for a long time.

Anybody else seen anything recently that they'd recommend to watch or not watch?

Nah hardly watched any. But did watch 'Faster' starring the rock. Old movie, somehow i'd missed it.But did enjoy it.

Been searching for 'Pain and Gain' with the rock and mark wahlberg, but can't find it. Heard good reports about it.

I watched the Hobbit 5 Armies the other night - quite agree a huge disappointment, reckon 1 long (ish) film would have been sufficient not the 3 that was made, going to watch Whiplash this weekend as it is about a drummer and his sadistic teacher - hoping it'll live up to its good reviews

I haven't saw The Hobbit,s final installment, although my son said he thought it was good. Having read nearly all of Tolkien's books, I could never fathom out how they managed to get three films out of what was basically a short children's story..

I liked that actually mate, it was a good film (Pain and Gain) to just sit and watch on a Sunday afternoon, easy watching and quite funny.

I've heard that's a very good film mate, with Miles Teller. He's the new kid on the block nowadays.

Watched The Theory of Everything as well, which I wasn't
Theory of everything is a good film, upsetting to watch. Hard to follow at times for me personally, with the whole speech thing. Definitely worth a watch. What's that Imitation Game about?

Watched Schindler's List after getting back from Poland last year, just after we'd been to Auschwitz, I hadn't seen it for about 10 years, unbelievable film. Pianist wasn't all that for me, found it all a bit of an Oscar-chaser.

Also a good film! Predictable ending but the doctor guy potato peeler really shocked me, it hit home that that's how things were in the labour camps.

If ever there was a film needed making about the Holocaust, it should be Rudolph Vrba's story. Done properly.

    I concur

Read the Hobbit as a bairn and read it again about 5 years ago. It's a 1-sit read, as I recall, I started about 9 pm, by around 1:30 it was done and I'm not a particularly fast reader either.

    always at the pictures.
Enjoyed the American sniper film, bit sad at the end though.
The gambler is quite a good film as well, goes to show how deep you can get into debt if you cant control the habit.
Off to see the Kinsmen on Sunday, looks like a pile of poo but the wife wants to go, ill just sit there and eat my sweets I think lol.
Agree with the Fury as well. Certainly wouldn't want to be in a tank myself but shows the camaraderie within the tank crews.
One of my favourite films is I am Legend, a lot will think its crap but again it makes you think what could potentially happen.
    Happy viewing

American Sniper was a good film, I guess I was going into it knowing a lot about Chris Kyle, so maybe knew what to expect. I thought Sienna Miller was appalling in it though, terrible effort from her.

Going to watch the Gambler soon I think, looks good.

American sniper would have been a lot better if you had seen Sienna with naff all on, am sure that would have happened a few times.
Hopefully you wont be disappointed with the gambler.
Quite like the look of the machinist as well.

Imitation game is about Alan Turing who was the main designer of what was basically one of the 1st electromechanical computers that was used to break the German Enigma machine code, story of his life and his war service cracking codes etc, really good

The Imitation Game and The Theory of Everything are 2 of the best I've seen for a long time. Alot different, but Big Hero 6 is also very good.
Looking forward to seeing Kingsman The Secret Service next.
