Possibly my favourite Chelsea goal ever...could watch that all day.

Beating the champions in the dying seconds of extra time to win the first f.a cup at the new Wembley. Some would call that history making.

I suppose you don't have to click on the thread.

But I agree, Lamps/Gerrard debates never end well!!

Exactly Lampard and Drogba scored half of Chelsea's goals when Chelsea won those 3 premier league titles. As you say it was thanks to Lampard's contributions that Chelsea won the premier league 3 times. With out his 20 goals as season where would Chelsea be now? Lampard easily Chelsea's stand out performer in the last 7 years.

Oh,so did Chelsea and West Ham win the league title every season Frank played for them?,or could it possibly be that it took Mourhino to surround him with players that would equally play a part in winning the prem title.

No one played an equal part in those 3 title winning sides. Lampard was the stand out performer over those seasons with goals, assists and general performances. Hence why he was voted 2nd best player in the world and Europe in 2005.

So in conclusion, Lampard is and has been a great player in a great side. Gerrard looks a great player in an average side. It's easy to see how you get confused.

Interesting post; but you could also say Gerrard did not fulfill his talent after leading Pool to glory in 2005.

He has won nothing since; if he had gone to a big club like Chelsea or United he would have become a true great as he has more natural talent than Lamps

What a well thought out and presented reply.

I'd agree he has more natural talent and moments of magic than Lampard but is nowhere near in terms of consistency and is prone to major errors (see above).

Be interesting to see how he would have done had he moved to us in 05. He may have stepped up even further or he may have became just another player, a bit like Ballack (who is a similar player) when he joined us. We'll never know because he chose to be the Matt Le Tiss of Merseyside.

Agreed; Gerrard liked show-off long balls and also gave the ball away very cheap for England.

Gerrie was very consistent in big Prem games though: consistently ****e.

    1 in 32 v Chelsea and 4 v 32 v United

Thank you. I'm noted for my brevity and ability to cut through to the core of the issue.

I'd say it was more avoiding the issues but we will agree to disagree!!

I never avoid anything. I'm just utterly sick of this banal old chestnut. Just when you think it's gone away, it comes back to haunt you. It's been done to death and will never be resolved because the protagonists in the argument have totally polarised views. QED.
