Supposing Lallana and Chamberlain are injured next week, what formation should we play? I think Adkins should play...

    -----------Davis------------
    -Butters-Fonte-Jaidi-Harding-
    -----Chaplow-Hammond-----
    ---Guly-Stephens-Barnard---
    ----------Lambert----------

Of course that's providing Stephens can play in an attacking MF position. Maybe play N'Guessan instead of Barnard. What does everyone think?

Stephens saying he's a box to box midfielder who can score...hope he does it for us.

I would say it is more likely for N'Guessen and Guly to come in for a straight swap. No need to be radical with 10 games left.

At least the break may give Oxo and Lallana time to recover (probably unlikely). Also gives Stephens time to be assessed and learn about the team. Sounded on OS like he was playing for a contract.

That is my take on it. If he does what is required then fair play to the lad. He is young enough to improve as well which has to be a good thing.
    My thoughts on the team

    Davis
    Butterfield, Fonte, Jaidi, Harding
    Guly, Hammond, Chaplow, N'Guessan
    Lambert, Barnard

    Subs
Bialkowski, Forte, Martin, Seaborne, Dickson, Richardson, Stephens

I think the diamond 4-1-2-1-2 would do you well, I like this formation as it is a true attacking formation and is brilliant for Gillingham at times, But you have all the attacking options so therefore it would work well for you's.

I much prefer a 4-3-3 which can also be played as 4-5-1.

With players we have I would always start 4-4-2 and switch things round if needed.

It's not our formation I worry about..it's the opposition 1-10 formation that causes us a problem.

If you want to use any new formation 4-1-2-1-2 is Brilliant.

We are likely to see more of that as well if the team we face needs the points as much as us. Meaning that if they are either fighting for promotion or relegation of course.

Call me mad if you like but I have a hunch that Forte will get a chance to show us what he is about. He may just show enough to let us worry less about losing Alex.

Would be bloody good if he could. Alex is a very hard act to follow.

Alex has not even reached his best yet. It was essential we held on to him this season, but, though I would love to keep him, I'll accept his sale once we are in Championship. Some of the money spent wisely could get us a couple of Championship/Prem quality players. Heaven forbid we don't go up, we wouldn't keep him anyway.

The one thing that I have enjoyed this season is the use of width. With it we have made several good scoring opportunities. This leads me to the hope that we keep a similar formation for the run in.
