It's not like we as fans knew anything it like.

    You are both being pathetic.

    You think I'm bitter just because I didn't get a go as a young-un?

You couldn't be more wrong <laugh>

A wee bit double standards there 83'.
Didn't you have a wee bit of a rage and even requested your own board ban when Relic outed some sordid stuff regarding his observations in the Fullwell end as a child and some (not all) of your fellow posters seemed to take a blaise type of 'it happens/it was long ago' type of view of his alleged 'revelations'? Your position with that issue is one I did and do support by the way.
This kind of stuff is clearly an emotive subject.. I just hope every single nonce, whether man, woman... a coach, supporter, player is eventually exposed and hung high whatever club they support, work for or play for. They are the sickest of the sick and are subhumans... I'm sure you will agree 100%. <ok>
I watch with interest to see how effective the probe is and hope that no stone is left unturned in what looks like being a very widespread issue in the game.

If these jibes are a dig about the historical sex abuse scandal being uncovered in youth football then I'm not sure why you're having a pop at Newcastle. The allegations that have been made public centred around the coach's time at North Fenham and Montague. He was employed by Newcastle for a while, and it may yet emerge that abuse took place during his time at the club. Sadly though, I don't think any area of the country will escape revelations about past wrongdoing, and suspect that eventually nearly every club that had a youth set up will find that it was open to being used by people who saw sport as the perfect opportunity to gain access to youngsters. The important thing is that all accusations are investigated thoroughly and that anybody found to have been guilty is punished to the full extent of the law. Even more importantly, anybody still in the game who is caught up in this should be prevented from working as a coach to youngsters while it is investigated, and anyone who admits to wrongdoing in any form should be immediately suspended by the clubs concerned and then sacked once formal disciplinary process has been carried through.

Personally, I didn't think it was right when some of our fans made jokes about the AJ situation, and said so at the time. I think it is equally wrong for anyone doing it now.

Do you think Sheppard knew? He couldn't maintain eye contact when denying knowledge and your entire youth system was scrapped around that time. I smell a cover up. As though NUFC tried to deal with the problem while trying to keep a tight lid on things. Doesn't look good does it?

I hope all the facts at ALL the clubs involved are fully disclosed asap.
When that happens I'll make my judgement.
Any wrongdoing by whoever is found guilty should be punished with the full weight of the law.

I'll be honest - with Fat Freddy it wouldn't shock me - but as with anyone else these things need investigating properly and not done in kangaroo courts. If it turns out that he did know and didn't report it then he deserves every bit of contempt that anybody can muster - as would anybody else who knew that sexual offences had taken place and didn't act on that information. It is all hearsay though at the moment, as so far (I think) there have been no accusations of any abuse taking place through the Newcastle youth system. However, a convicted child abuser worked as a coach (unconvicted at the time, and I hope unknown), so we should all be prepared for the fact that there is a lot more to come out about this throughout football.

This story is going to grow unfortunately, and hit a lot of clubs. It may well hit other sports.

No one should be throwing stones just yet.

    Well said Blunham.

I am also hoping that this doesn't turn out to be a subject that fans of any clubs start using as a stick to start beating each other with. I don't think there will be many fans of any club who don't want to see this investigated openly and to it's fullest extent and for anybody involved to be punished and banished from the game.

Of course, I agree. I've explained about Relic on the page.

Still, you lot seem to be crying your eyes out and are clearly bothered about it. You should have all thought of that before using Adam Johnson as a stick to beat Sunderland with, and Jimmy Saville as a stick to beat the Leeds fans with.

I think the reason for Keegan scrapping the youth team set up, is pretty clear now.

    He was protecting them.
