20th Century Women - a proper Curate's Egg of a film. If you're looking for a plot to follow then this is not the film for you. More like 'And Now For Something Completely Different ' on here, but all in one big chunk at once; we found it hard work after half an hour. Depends how you like your movies.
Just watched "whisky, tango, foxtrot', I quite Enjoyed it, will not win any awards, But it was a pleasant hour and 52 mins... And I would not chuck margot Robbie Out of bed...
Watched "the assassins creed", good in parts But the ending was ****..... I've a feeling this will get much better in The next instalment ......
My wife and I really enjoyed it. Personally, I loved the gravity shift in the 'entrance tunnel' and some geek whose blog I have followed for a decade or so gets a credit at the end which was a bonus. I can really immerse myself in science fiction films that are only a step away from science fact. 'Passengers' was good too, it's been slated by critics but I think that people expect more explosions and aliens from big budget productions, rather than 'almost reality'. 'Europa Report' is another entertaining film that falls into that category, without the budget and ignoring the unrealistic climax, it floats my boat. 'Apollo 18' and 'The Last Days On Mars' are universally slated but again, for me, there's enough reality and research to make them enjoyable but there's not enough storyline to engage the layman. 'Gravity' was decent but there's some glaring scientific errors that ruin it a bit. 'The Martian' is great but it still has it's flaws. I'm looking forward to 'Life' and 'Alien: Covenant'.
Get you ... I enjoy some Sci-fi which is why I watched it, I thought the concept intriguing, but the pace and ponderous dialogue was a decent substitute for Mogadon. It was different, but not particularly entertaining; they didn't set out to make a documentary or even a docudrama, so it failed for me. Glad you enjoyed it, though.
Sorry, you're correct, I am a layman, a gentleman scientist if you will, my passion is science but films have been ruined for me by stupid Media Studies. I did indeed expect nothing from the film, but got more than I anticipated which has probably skewed my review. It probably ruins my point when I say I liked the new 'Ghostbusters'. I expected it to be absolute ****e when it was only fairly ****e.
Not a film but another documentary about the Nazi Party. But this one is somehow different, it goes where I haven't seen previous documentaries go. Watched two, excellent, two recorded, maybe six in series: Nazis: A Warning From History (BBC Four)
