As always seems to be the case in the last few years, looking back on the triumphs of previous seasons is tinged with too many regrets and frustrations due to the players (and managers) who aren't here any more. So my best moment of 2016 is therefore Jay's first goal on Sunday. His second was a special goal, but for me, a player whose right knee was totally rebuilt two and a half years ago, going in where it hurts and sliding that beautiful dink from Davis into the net signified a lot more than taking the lead against Bournemouth. It showed that his goal scoring instinct hasn't atrophied over those endless months when his body wouldn't respond to what his brain was telling it to do. Like Saints_Alive, I've always liked Jay, and now, hopefully, the real Jay Rod is back.
Cuco Martina's goal against Arsenal was 2015 wasn't it? What a way to end that year though. 2016 highlights - going to the San Siro, then beating Inter at St Marys.
Great shout, beating Spurs away was a great moment. Away win at Utd, Liverpool 3-2 win at home. All great. San Siro, coming from behind to beat Inter at home.
An annoying nickname for Bournemouth. Almost, but not quite, as cringey as Sofie-Anne being used to refer to Sofiane Boufal or even tw*tbeard as reference for Adam lallana.
Best memory has to be the San Siro, despite the score. great stadium and fantastic away support. Hope we get to experience it again....
You've got it Fran, it's just a pisstake of their fans who call us "Scummers" and are trying so hard to be our rivals. I don't mind the club and I admire their style of football and what Eddie Howe has achieved there. They are the modern day Wimbledon, but without the hoofball.
Realising that Claude isn't a bad manager has been a very pleasant surprise, after all the early doubts, based simply on the fact that I had never heard of him, prior to our interest in employing him. Long may he continue to prove himself, and keep us in the top half of the table. Oh and trip to Wembley (and a win there) would be a nice memory for 2017.
Puel was an odd one. The moment he was announced I read up all I could on him. By the time the dust settled all I needed to know was whether he could adapt to the Premier League. He could.
Charlie's winner at United , and forgetting where I was and going mental in one of the corporate areas at Old Trafford!
