I've played in most of them. Calderstones, Sefton, Woolton, The Mystery (Wavertree Playground). Probably my favourite memory is watching Echo and the Bunnymen on the Bandstand at Sefton Park on acid. That was a good night <laugh>

PS Sympathy post <ok> There aren't that many of us on here <laugh>

Larks in the Parks <laugh> I was there too

Calderstones was the one I spent most time in, as it wasn't far from where I lived and where I went to school. Later on, I've slept on bench in it, shagged in it. got chased through it

I used to run round Sefton Park every night for about 3 years though as that was also only about a mile or so from my house. I also drove my car into the lake <laugh>

The Mystery was near my Nan's so when very young I was always in there at the playground.

Great memories and great parks <ok>

We are blessed with them. More than any other city outside London. Walton Park in Warrington isn't bad as they go.

I'm surprised you didn't say Goodison Park was your favourite.

Used to walk across Stanley Park every match day (or leg it when chased by rival fans), but I used to play in Wally Hall.
School made us run round Norris Green once a week so not a big fan of that one.

I bet Norris Green wasn't a big fan of you running around him.

Calderstones for me as I went to Quarry Bank school. Used to sag off there all the time, and summer holidays was just a long day there.

Not a park but at the back of the houses was an alley we'd put iron bars over three bricks each side, goals about 10 feet apart and play a 1v1 tournament. You had to keep it low to score. We even had a trophy, which I won once. Not bad for an 8-yr old against kids up to 14.

Mossy will also tell you about 'Over the boards', which was the old tramways social club at the top of Finch Lane. Don't know why they referred to the 'boards', as by the 70's, between us from Dovecot and Mossy's interlopers from outside of the city :) all the 'boards' had been kicked down and hardly any fence remained. Did many a sliding tackle through the omnipresent dog turds too, I can tell you.

    Ah, blue remembered hills...:emoticon-0142-happy

    We owned it.<grr>

And regularly used the bowling greens for 5-a-sides while your mob were hanging around the arches at Dovey shops waiting to mug OAP's.<whistle>

In your ****ing dreams! My crowd were more toward Finch Lane shops and the Labour Club triangle. We mugged our old ladies there. <doh>

Come to think of it though, remember the putting green at Dovecot? Think it was closed by the 80's. I was down at Whitsun and for the first time I noticed... Dovey Baths has gone! How long has that been pulled down? Used to love going there in the holidays, the cafe balcony with Wagon Wheels and Oxo, then going home with red, swollen eyes from the chlorine. :emoticon-0103-cool:

Dovey baths closed in the 80's and got demolished in the early 90's, I remember going there too, it was boss, high board and low board in the deep pool, the 3 ft to 6ft deep long pool and the paddling pool.

Remember you had to give your clobber in at the window in one of them plastic basket's?, I went to get mine one day after getting out of the pool, had to walk back to the mosss in me socks, some ****er had robbed me shoes.<wah>

    Me ma leathered me.<laugh>
