The Premier League is 25 years old now and the first game was this week. So what game do people remember most fondly? Since our return to the Premier League there has been lots of memorable games that will live with all of us forever. But going back to the Martin O'Neill years there was also lots of memorable games. Mine is between the Everton game where we lifted the Premier League trophy but for pure emotional rollercoaster and quality of the game for me its the 5-3 win over Man U. 2-0 down, 3-1 down and them completing probably the best comeback in Premier League history. Back in the big time and pulling apart the most successful team in Premier League history is when we truly realised we was back with the big boys and we wasn't just making up the numbers.
I would have gone for the same two as you given that I was too young to enjoy the O'Neill days so definitely those two based on this time round
The same for me too. The Everton game was about the achievement, the occasion and emotion rather than the actual game. The Man U win was all about the football and the result.
Man City 1-3 Leicester - that is when I believed. Also Leicester 5-3 Man Utd - was an insane match that was the high point before a big fall.
Best game I went to was 4-4 with Villa in 95, 3 late goals and I was in the Holte End just about containing myself.
Probably the 5-3 over Utd but at the time the 5-2 over Sunderland with Collymores hat trick was a special day.
The 5-3 win over Man U for me! But a close 2nd as to be are premiership winning season when we went 0-2 down to the Villa and Grealish jumped into Sherwoods arms after he scored their 2nd goal and we went on to win 3-2 f***in great !!!!!!
The 5-3 win against Man Utd for me too. I remember turning to my son, saying " Don't expect to see another game like this. This is once in a lifetime stuff"
Then afterwards going on a massive losing run and being bottom of the Premier League and NP going mental - good times... Edit: Found the MotD highlights http://videa.hu/player?v=KHqQqyAtrNiOxW5s Our lineup was interesting as well - Leicester (4-4-3): Schmeichel, De Laet, Morgan (c), Moore, Konchesky, Hammond, Cambiasso, Nugent, Drinkwater, Vardy, Ulloa Subs: Hamer, James, King, Schlupp, Mahrez, Wasilewski, Wood
I remember that! Hammond wasn't very good but we went on a run where we just kept winning with him in the side in the premier league!
I'm with you .... the way we took Man City apart at their gaff showed that we really were credible contenders ... still remember the looks on the faces of Yaya and David Silva as they were being substituted ... they were in shock ... like "what the fcuk just happened?" they had spent an afternoon chasing shadows ... Kante was phenomenal and the Mahrez goal had me screaming at the top of my voice ... even the Citeh fans were applauding .... magical.
I feel that was the best, 'all round' performance I've seen in my years supporting. To keep their attack out minus a consolation (which I think from memory was questionable whether onside) and score 3 was fantastic.
