I was listening to my radio the other day and the subject of famous people you have met came up and it got me wondering about famous celebrities I have met, because of the nature of my employment and interests over the years there has been quite a few, by that I mean people I have actually spoken to or physically been involved with. I have met Gerry Marsden, Cliff Richards, Tom Jones, Glen Cambell, Johnny Cash, Kenny Ball, Acker Bilk, Anita Harris, Steve Davies, Barry McGuire, Elton John and Bobby Vee plus a few others who will remain nameless... My favourite people I met were Tony Benn, Tommy Docherty and his no 2 Eddie Cavanagh, Patrick Mower , Hurricane Higgins, Bob Monkhouse and Patrick Moore (Sky at Night) The best person I ever met for his bloody good manners and humbleness was the great Henry Cooper, great guy and a great man. Who are your great people who's company you have enjoyed.
Princess Di (at great pen and street hospital) , the Queen, Princess Margaret (When I was about 3) at some military thing.
Pierre Trudeau, Noddy Holder, The Colonel (Kentucky Fried Chicken), Kirk Douglas, Rod Stewart and Cidered.
bob monkhouse labi sifferee spelling wrong but sounds like it a few others but for no more than a few minutes
Ralph McTell wrote the chords for 'Streets of London' out for me and signed it - I already worked them out some years before! Gilbert O Sullivan is the brother in law of a good friend of mine and he used to drink in my local. Andy Partridge (XTC) frequents my local Spanish Tapas bar (I might pop round there after work today) and always says hello. I posted on another thread before - no reflection on my religious or political views but I am on first name terms with Robert Buckland MP (Solicitor General) and the Bishop of Bristol.
A few friends have played for Wales in rugby, no one you would know. Some of you will know of Rob Jones who works with my wife, so I see him occasionally. She's also got Brymar Williams there, and used to have one or two cricketers but I didn't meet them so that don't count. Also been in a film with Micheal Palin. I played a peasant in beware of the Jabawocky filmed in Chepstow so met him and a few others but I was 7 or 8 at the time so can't remember much. I do remember a nice lady actor looking after us at meal times but can't remember her name. But she seemed to know everyone.
I met former President Bill Clinton a few years ago whilst I was waiting for a flight at Washington Reagan National airport. He had his security detail with him but they were cool and did not have any issue with me approaching him (I was airside and so had already cleared airport security). I wasn't brave enough to ask about Monica....but he was really charming and polite.
Prince Andrew and David Haye, you can decide who's more famous. Also Tiger Woods and Kobe Bryant walked past my table at Mortons steakhouse in Orlando in 2011, does this count as meeting? I was more amazed my wife knew who Kobe Bryant was.
Met Steve landsdown about 7 years ago. Took part in the half time competition and when I completely ****ed up my attempt had 1000s of fans going Wayyyy Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
I work in the same office as the linesman that Leandro Bacuna headbutted last season? That's about it.
