Merc say they have ironed out their small reliability issues with the spec of PU they used on second test. They will be running the second test spec PU in OZ. The worrying thing is that Mercs PU is reportedly 70hp more than at the end of 2016!!!!! If that is the case then it's a Merc 1-2 all season as long as they don't mess up Caught a bit of SkyF1 Crofty coverage (OK so Crofy isn't great) talking to Force India bloke. He was saying the even soft tyres could last an entire race!! So drivers wont be able to wait behind someone for their tyres to go off. They will have to overtake on track. IMHO that means DRS will be virtually only way to overtake He did say that FIA looking at DRS zones but the DRS wing will be as effective as before. So looks like, as fans predicted, the new aero won't product more overtaking!!! Roll on Ross, the sooner the better.
It depend where Ferrari and eventually Renault end up with their engines. The Ferrari was equal to the Merc last year it was just that they couldn't run at full power as long as Merc due to the engine knock.
bit premature writing it off before it's even started. I actually thin there will be more action than people expect. We will see laps 4-5 seconds faster, they'll have to push a bit more, and these 2 things mean they'll be driving closer to the edge. mistakes are going to happen.
I really do hope you are right. I will be very happy to see proper overtaking and some competition, ideally at the front. Fingers crossed you are right.
I guess they'll be carrying a lot more speed through there this year, just a way to try and get them to slow down a little I suppose
I am hoping this new formula will improve driver quality, highlight and get rid of the mediocre. Those companies with academies will have the better drivers. Better drivers will excite the sport. Those like Max who has shown it is not only skill but also exceptional talent that is needed.
just noted 6/5 for hamilton to win in australia and vettell 3/1. seems interesting odds with many questions to be asked. anyone tempted by vettel on race day one there?
Tempting but it's so hard to say. I wouldn't be surprised to see Red Bull pull something out of the bag. I don't think we've seen their proper aero yet.
Whats the odds on Mclaren having to use their 4 engines in the first 3 races and incurring a penalty by the time the 3 away races are done?
I get a kick weird kick out of it. I'm not sure if I could do every GP this season due to other commitments.
Does anybody think this is a possibility and if so who is going to stand in? Former Red Bull driver Mark Webber has suggested Fernando Alonso may sit out the rest of F1 2017. "Maybe Fernando's not there the whole year, " Webber told Belgian F1 site Sporza. When asked to clarify what he meant, he replied: "Fernando might not do the whole year. He's frustrated like hell, he doesn't even want to finish seventh or sixth. "Fernando's not interested in points, he wants to be fighting for podiums. So mentally he's a long, long way away from where he wants to be" (Full interview - external site)
