BREAKING NEWS Former England and Tottenham goalkeeper Paul Robinson has announced his retirement. A big for one of the best GK's to grace the Lane.
Great servant and great all round fella!! Always get the impression we are his first home in football terms and can't recall many more popular players with the club and fans. Wish him all the best for the future. Maybe potential GK coach - or even Forwards!! Lol
Was at the home game against Blackburn rovers on the run-in of the 2009/10 season. Robbo got the usual fabulous reception and responded like a true great. He picked up an early injury and had to go off. Before departing, he threw his gloves into the Park Lane where my brother caught them. They were already signed, so he always intended to throw them to the fans. Top bloke!
Anyone who was at Ledley's testimonial will have seen how much Robbo is loved. Once again, orchestrating a rendition of "stand up if you hate Arsenal". There was a point in his time with us, when he was arguably the best goalkeeper in Europe. Certainly for 18 months to 2 years, he was unquestionably up there with the best. At this time, we were shyte and going nowhere, yet he signed a 7 year contract because he loved the club. The beginning of our love affair with him. In addition to the glove throwing occasion already mentioned, there is the story he told of when he caught the train down to London and when the train stopped at Finsbury Park, he held his breath so he didn't have to inhale "the Arsenal air". Since he left us, he was a pundit on a Sky game once and was wearing a THFC tie. I loved him when he was with us and I still love him. His distribution was the best I have ever seen from a keeper. Enjoy your retirement Englands Number One, in my eyes, you're a Spurs Legend.
I was going to mention this too. The sub 'keeper got a lot of stick when he came on. "Just a fat John Barnes" and a few other chants about his weight iirc Hope we see more of Robbo as a pundit now he's retired, he's done a few bits for MOTD and Sky Championship games in the past. Proper Spurs and a proper legend
Distribution was indeed superb. Could do with bringing him back as a coach just to teach Hugo how not to concede a throw every time he kicks the ball.

Clint Dempsey becomes the joint top-scorer for his country, matching Landon Donovan's total of 57: Questionable goalkeeping, but that's still a pretty impressive number.
What is it with our ex-players scoring free kicks? ...and who the hell is responsible for them forgetting how to take them when they played for us?
